Just acquired a Nike Machspeed Str8 Driver and if any member using one of these clubs, would appreciate clarification of what is setting for lower trajectory....
Apart from Left and Right adjustment and Upright, do I assume that Upright will increase trajectory and Neutral - at the bottom end of the adjustmen diagram - is the normal trajectory ?   So how to get lower trajectory setting ?

I have one and didnt know you could adjust the trajectory. The book wasnt real helpful in explaining the adjustments. I understand the closed and open settings however they didnt clarify the "arrow" settings. The more I play with the Machspeed the more Im not liking it. So far I havent been impressed with it.

I have been informed today that the Yellow straight slot puts the lie 'toe up' and increases the loft and the White straight slot is normal. Also told that not possible to decrease the loft.   Not sure if this is correct, hopefully another member may yet respond who can shed more light.

I agree with you the info by Nike is not too helpful, I contacted them by email on 2 occasions but they do not reply ( maybe they dont have the answer also !!! ).    I like mine because it gives me more tight dispersion than others I have tried and distance is slightly better also.  Just wish I knew more about it.

Thanks for replying and happy golfing .

  • 3 months later...

So heading into 2012, can't wait until the golf season starts, I decided after many years to make the move to a fitted set of Ping irons ( G20's ).

Always wanted Ping irons and now in my senior years, fully retired and a member of a good club here in B.C.'s interior where we can enjoy a full seven month golf season. I'm curious as to what difference ( if any ) my new Pings will make to my game, at present I use Cobra FP irons with a regular flex graphite shaft.

So on the subject of Nike's SQ Machspeed driver, I bought one yesterday at the local Golf Town, the round black model, my verdict is still out on adjustable drivers but after chatting with the pro. at golf town who checked my clubhead speed, launch etc. etc. I took his advice and bought the 9.5 driver stiff shaft.

I play off a nine handicap, my miss is mostly left with the longer clubs, my present driver is a Cleveland " Launcher " 9 degree stiff shaft but this driver has a 2 degree closed face ( which most " off the rack " non adjustable driver have ).

I'm sure you will agree, if your miss is left ( hooks ) especially with the longer clubs the last thing you need is a driver with a closed face, so I shall be most interested to see what I can do with this new driver once the first practice range opens.

Most of the reviews ( which I do take note of ) rate this driver highly, in fact a few have made strange claims about how far they can hit this driver. I shall have to eat my words at my club,,I did say I would never have Nike equipment in my bag ever again, comes from a bad experience I had a number of years ago with Nike.

By the way, when it comes to golf equipment it's not always about price, in my particular case anyway, but I bought this driver yesterday for $145.00 ( Can. ) it's a really good looking golf club with the good quality Fubuki shaft and a comfortable grip,,,can't beat that price.

To open or close the face changes the dynamic loft of the club.

I recently started back playing after about a decade and picked up a Nike VR Tour Driver to replace my tiny Big Bertha :-) but I am trying to make use of the adjustment features.  I know the club is pretty old, but I really like the way it feels and looks at the tee.

I hope someone doesn't mind answering a question about the adjustments. Sadly, the book itself is very sparse on details and useful info on the internet is very hard to find.

I think I understand the concept and how the adjustments themselves work, including the concept of dynamic loft (although I can't find a wrench where the electronics work and have to rely on the click) but I'm confused about how I actually take advantage of the changes at the tee. I'm trying to take the edge of a bit of a fade, and have set the Driver to -1 Upright as a starting point, but do I then square the club face at address or do I use the red line on the grip? Squaring the face seems sort of counter-intuitive to me as wouldn't that be negating any adjustment I make, unless the key is all in the dynamic loft?

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I LOVE the VR 3 wood I also picked up.

    • Day 203 (21 Nov 24) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend.  Played it as a 7 club challenge (7w, 5h, 7i, 9i, GW, LW, putter).  As we were playing up a set of tees, no super loss of distance off the tee.  Had some good looks at birdie, failed to convert.  These sessions with fewer clubs really helps with course management.
    • Tell me about it - shouldn’t have second guessed…
    • My wife is going to drag me to see Wicked.   She is very excited to see it.   We saw the musical while in Chicago and thought it was very good.  I'm not usually a fan of musicals but I'm looking forward to seeing this.   Gladiator 2 does look good.   I'm going to go back and watch the original Gladiator before going to the theater.
    • MSN Glover expressed his dissatisfaction with what he termed as 'cool kid meetings' between Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and other high-profile golfers. "I think it's terrible," he stated. "And then hiding behind pace of play, I think, challenges our intelligence. They think we're stupid.     "Don't cut fields because it's a pace of play issue. Tell us to play faster, or just say you're trying to appease six guys and make them happy so they don't go somewhere else and play golf." Fitzpatrick joined the conversation on X (formerly Twitter), with the 30-year-old echoing Glover's sentiments regarding the PGA Tour changes. "He's so right," Fitzpatrick posted. "Pathetic that pace of play is spoken about every year and nothing ever gets done."     I agree. Instead of  penalizing  players for  turtle  play they appease the  slow jerks  by  cutting the  fields. They will play even slower  knowing they will NEVER be  penalized.
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years  My current handicap index or average score is: 1.5 My typical ball flight is: neutral /slight draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: hook   Looking for some advice please folks. Started golfing three years ago and got hooked. Had some early lessons and was a slicer etc.  I used to have a severe inside takeaway and through working hard to fix as ever (this game…) it’s now gone too far the other way where I take it back way outside.  i think it looks really bad and have gotten a lesson last year where we tried to competely reset the swing and it ruined things for months as I couldn’t get it to stick (my fault).    anyway do I need to fix this? I hit it reasonably solid but don’t know what else I’m looking at or need to clean up. All opinions welcomed!  Videos:
