Hi guys

I just purchased the Nike Sasquatch 460 9.5 Degree with regular flex shaft. I went to the range to test it out and I was very suprised with the sound. As soon as i hit it i was expecting the usual "ping" sound but actually i heard like a sort of cracking sound as if i was hitting a wooden driver. It actually sounds like I am hitting a wooden driver almost with a little titanium mixed in. Is this normal... or is there something wrong with my driver?

The SUMO has an odd sound to it but my Sasquatch sounds nothing like you are describing. Some people tell me mine sounds loud, but never what you described.

Is this the Nike Sumo Sasquatch, or the first model? I have used the first model and it is pretty loud. Hit it clean and square and it sounds like murder. As far as the wood club thing. That doesn't sound normal to me.

I know I have heard the club at the range behind me and it isn't a normal sound by today's driver standards.....in fact the friend of this person was making sarcastic comments about the sound and how loud/weird it was......not sure if it was a wooden driver sound

never hit the sumo, but ive heard it. wouldnt say it sounds like a wooden club, its just nasty sounding and ear piercing loud. but it doesnt give the cracking sound your club is making. call the nike golf people, they should be able to make a quick assessment if its broken.

Where did you purchase it? Maybe it's a replica? If you bought it from a local golf shop... go back and ask them the question. Demo another one just like it.

It should sound like a block of wood.

This sounds like you best course of action. That club does have a different sound to it like everyone says but I don't remember it sounding like a wooden driver, then again sound is subjective. Demo another sumo and see if it has a similar sound.

By the way, I thought the Sumo was an awesome driver. I have the now regular sasquatch (last year) and can't justify the upgrade. Good Luck

I had the Sasquatch tour and it seems like the better I hit it the worse the sound! I recently switched to the R7 Superquad and when I hit the sweet spot it makes a much nicer sound. Not so with the Sasquatch. So I'd say the sound is normal for that driver.

what kind of tee did you hit it off. there is one range i go to where they have these weird rubber tees that really mess up the sound. i know you have the sumo, but when i hit balls with my SQ Tour off these tees, wooden, with some metal in it, like you described, isn't a bad way to put it.

if you're not hitting off of regular tees, in a non-enclosed environment, i would do that first before anything. otherwise, definitely doesn't sound right.
