Yep. Homestead isn't real long, but some of those greens are a bit wild. As I remember, they are also on the faster side compared to ole home sweet home Kittyhawk.

I usually walk Homestead. The greens are pretty sweet there IMO. Not too many munis take such good care of the course.

No question Carl. By wild, I mean just the undulation that some of them have. Again, I'm pretty used to City of Dayton single slopers.

I've been massively impressed with the conditioning those guys do.

Yep. Have played the COD courses a lot. Had a membership there for several years and live just a few miles from KHawk. When they, KHawk, hired a good greenskeeper about 5 years ago, the greens really improved. I hate the bunkers though. Just plain horrid. They started redoing them, but stopped for some reason. Like we always say, KHawk greens break half as much as you think.

With aimpoint they break just as much as you think ;-)

Yea, the COD greens are pretty much simple greens. I think Community are tougher because some of them are more elevated and domed a bit. So they got some slight breaks that can get ya, especially in some of the back pin placements.

If they don't break the amount you thought is it because you didn't give them the finger long enough before putting?? :-D

Not enough fingers.

Years ago, Kittyhawk's greens were like trampolines. You couldn't get anything to hold on those stinkin things. This guy started aerating and watering and they are much better now. There is still a lot of clover and such on the fairways, but since the course is on top of the aquifer where our drinking water comes from...

I think there needs to be an Aimpoint shirt with someone doing the finger thing and a caption Read This. ;-)

That would be awesome!

Hole 6 on the Hawk is still a trampoline. I've had wedges hit in the center that have bounced over the green. Not a big fan of that par 5!

Hmmm. I'm usually playing from the left bunker on that one.

So we are walking the course tomorrow yeah? That would be good for me because I don't what anyone having to drive all over looking for my golfball again.

Hole 6 is the big ole right dogleg isn't it. Left bunker or behind the left bunker for me, but I do seem to recall a rare shot finding the green and bouncing like a superball.

The green I remember most clearly from Homestead is no. 9. You hit the approach shot over the water hazard. The last time I was on the fringe at the top right corner of the green with a nasty down and left slope. Putt was a mile away.

9 is a tough hole. Would love to see them lengthen it and make it a 5 par. Better risk reward in terms of going for it in 2.

    • Day 18: 2026.01.20 Continuing work on arm raise during backswing. Starting to feel less weird, especially the slower I go. Looking like a busy week so might be the weekend before I can hit some balls.
    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
