Just had to share it as about 5 days ago I had a huge breakthrough and have been playing consistent with it on the past 5 rounds so I know it isn't a fluke of things were just working well that one day. My iron and short game is going quite well right now but my driver has never been a strong club. I've been hitting it well this season but only average about 220 yards with a 250 yard drive or more slipping in once in a blue moon. Yet I could hit my 3 wood about 210-215 yards so I knew I wasn't doing something right with the driver.

I recorded my swing about two weeks ago and noticed rather quickly I wasn't extending my left arm through the swing, I'm a righty, it was a slight bow (chicken wing). I had been working for about a week on extending the arm and thought I had it going well so I recorded myself again 5 days ago. I was still doing it, no change but I noticed I wasn't bent far over but I had too much bend in my back at address. I got up on the first tee and decided what the heck, I can fix the posture right then, so I stood quite straight with very little angle. I then proceeded to put my drive 267 yards out, easiest feeling swing I ever had. I knew the distance as I had a gps and marked my shot. I thought, hey, good shot. From there on for the rest of the round I was average between 245 - 270 yards, every drive in the fairway or just a couple of yards off. I have been doing that for the past five days. The other thing is my 3 iron has done the same. I am almost reaching or reaching all of our par 5's in 2 when before this I was still out about 60 - 80 yards for my third shot. Our par 5's are not long but most large ball hitters can easily hit all of them in two without an issue. It's nice I am close to that category.

I was talking about how amazing just one minor change can make and my new video shows I am no longer bowing the arm. He went out with me and usually takes me off the tee but I was blowing it by him, felt great..lol. Also good to see my handicap drop a few more with the better distance and accuracy off the tee.

Anyway, just had to share as I can see my handicap getting down to a 6 or 7 by the end of the season which is well beyond my goal which I hit today, getting into the 8's.

Great news, gotta love it.  Save that video in case you regress you can pull it up and re-fix yourself.

    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
