Depends on where the pin sets, the "wedge" you are looking for could be a 6 iron........ If I'm looking to pitch and roll, it depends on how much carry I am looking for. If the pin is close to where my ball lies, I may pull out a 52*, 56* or 60* depending on if I am on an uphill to a flat lie just to flop it close. For my wedges I am using the Cleveland CG15's and have been very happy. Now if I can just get this putting thing down.......

Looking for somthing to get the ball up and hit the green and stop or have a little roll out.. I have a hard time right now getting my ball to slow down or stop when it hits the green. Im playing a low spin ball the E6 so thats not helping im sure.

Agree with GFD - if I'm 10-15 yards I'd rarely use a wedge unless I really need to stop it fast or go over something.

OK, the e6 ball will not help you. Try a urethane cover ... one can find them on sale. I found Cally HX Tour 56 at $20/dz. Nice, soft ball, spinny. The B-Stone e5 spins, and hopefully they improved it -- the initial e5 went too high and lost distance for me. But they've had about 3 iterations of that ball. I like the Bridgestone RXS at the moment.

Back to your wedge -- callawaypreowned.com always has a sale and like new wedges are really like new ... a C Grind 58-60 would do the trick. It has some bounce, which is helpful but the grind makes it play with less effective bounce. If you get nonconforming, they stop on a dime ...  or a dime and a foot.

Technique - for those 10-15 yarders, I've found nothing is better than Mickelson's hinge and hold technique. Get his DVD -- it's gold. I use his techniques around greens along with conventional, but when you want to stop it, use Phil; or

Put the ball in the middle of your stance or a tad back, take a shorter backswing and come down with speed but in rhythm at the back of the ball with a short folllow through -- that will give you spin. To get more spin, open up the face a bit, but move your feet so they are aimed left, but the leading edge of the club faces the hole ,,, and come down with speed at the ball (you don't need to overdo it ... use rhythm) and it should stop like a butterfly.

Experiment.

Until you find this right wedge / ball combinbation, just make a not of how much the balll releases and play for it. In the long run that play allow you to play to your index on more courses in varying weather conditions more often. That is, it's more consistent.

Having said that, I liked Cobra wedges back in the day (first specialty wedge was a Cobra Phil Rodgers 60 - best wedge I've ever owned) and personally can't wait for the "Trusty Rustys" to hit the market.

I agree with sean. I wouldn't be worried so much about the spin on a 10 yard shot. I can hit a 10-15 yard shot with almost all the clubs in my bag. what I use is going to depend on the situation, and the lie.

Oh, yes, there are so many good wedges out there -- you almost can't go wrong -- for those who know too much, choosing a wedge is not easy. In general, until you are willing to spend time and money on them - typically a medium sole with 10-12 of stated bounce, for a high lofted wedge - 58-60, with some relief along the trailing edge, heel and toe areas of the sole, with a little bit of camber, will give you versatility around greens. Once you get a swing down and you're anal about it, you might get fitted. But to get fitted, you need to know your stuff or most sales guys and many fitters will bs the heck out of you... it's a tough world out there.

Typically, diggers (big divot guys) will want a flatter sole with no or little camber; some width and high bounce - so the club doesn't get stuck in the ground.

Sliders (small - medium divots) who miss thin and fat will want more of what I described in the first paragraph.

Pickers (no divots) will want less bounce, medium width... some camber
