Has anyone tried these? I JUST found them online. All the reviews ive been reading on them have been positive. I need new golf shoes and now Im considering these...

All four pairs of my Nike's are falling apart. They're just not built well enough for me to re-buy them. Comfortable, but not durable.

In my Ogio bag.

Titleist 910D2 driver, Adams irons & hybrid, Callaway wedges & a Nike Method putter.

And a yellow ball.

Asics shoes are generally great.

Very few athletes who are not endorsed by Nike wear their shoes, which are pretty poor in comparison to the opposition.

Asics, on the other hand, is highly popular amongst those athletes who buy their own.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Now that I think about it youre right, you dont see other tour pros wearing Nike if not sponsored by them... Ive always been a Nike fan, and their golf shoes fit my feet really well, so thats why I bought them originally. They are comfortable in my opinion, but not made to last, so durability is questionable in my opinion as well.

But I dont see the value in the overpriced Footjoys or Adidas shoes either. Im starting to warm up to FootJoy's, but I still cant stomach the retail prices. $200-$300 for golf shoes is ridonculous!

Not to bash Asics since they are the only sneakers I've worn for years now, but I thought the ad for their golf shoes was funny: "Asics combines athletic footwear with golf shoe features for a super comfortable, high performance shoe that provides terrific grip on the green ." You know, for those full-swing putts...

These are my next golf shoe to try (next summer, probably)... I can't find them to try them on, but I did try on some other Asics running shoes and such to see sizes. I'm usually an 11 1/2 W and the normal Asics 11 1/2 running shoe fit fine (felt great!). I checked the local Dick's and Golfsmith, but all Dick's said is they could 'special order'. Haven't made it to Golf Galaxy or Fiddler's Green in Eugene area, yet. They are online at Zappo's, which if you're a 'VIP' member has free shipping (both ways, if they need to go back).

Asics are the only running shoe I like and my son likes their wrestling shoes the best so I'll have to give them a try, thanks.

Go to the link I posted in the original post. The Golf Warehouse (TGW). From what ive read they are true fit shoes, so if you wear an 11 in their running shoes, you wear an 11 for thier golf shoes as well. I thought that the $150 price wasn't too bad actually… Its still a bit more than I would ideally like to spend, but if they are in fact the most comfortable shoes on the market then its worth it I guess…

This may sound silly, but Im concerned with how they will look now. Hahaha, I mean if they look too much like a running shoe (which it looks like they do) its going to look very weird wearing a collared polo, golf slacks, and running shoes…??? This may be a summer only shoe…

i know how you feel. i just bought a new pair of shoes ( adidas greenstars ) and sort of dismissed some because they didn't look like "golf shoes" or adequately match any of the golf attire i have.

I will seconds the guys on the Asics running shoes - I have always been a Nike guy but I have run 2 half marathons (not a runner - former catcher here) and running in Asics Nimbus shoes felt amazing, and they were durable, I wear them to play racquetball in and do crossfit type workouts and they are still going strong.  I am thinking about getting a pair of the golf shoes since I walk alot, I agree they dont look as classic as my usual FJ dryjoys, but we will see, my FJs seem to stretch out and now I have to wear 2 pairs of socks to make them feel snug.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
