My chip shots from this distance to the hole has been something like this: 50 - 40 yds : 5-15 ft 30-20 yds : 5-10 ft 15yds and in : 5-6 ft From the longer distance I can put more spin with my LW to make the ball not roll too far But I have a hard time narrowing the accuracy. 30yds and in I use either SW or LW and I can't seem to put enough spin and the ball keeps rolling. I can of course use 8 or 7 iron to chip and make the carry a lot shorter, but I want to learn usingnthe wedges better. What are the methods that I can use to improve this part of my game and land the ball within 3-4 ft ?

As point of reference, the #100 PGA Tour pro hits it:

From 50-75 yards out - 15' 9" from the hole

From 20-30 yards out - 9' 7" from the hole

From 10-20 yards out - 7' 0" from the hole

From inside 10 yards - 3' 7" from the hole

So it looks like you have a very good short game for a 14.

Couple of things - Don't rely on spin to stop your chips.  It's far too inconsistent.  Get your ball rolling on the green as soon as possible.

All things being equal (decent lie, flattish green, negligible grain, etc.), a normal SW chip should roll out about the same distance as the carry.  A lob wedge (I wouldn't recommend for chipping) will roll 1/2 the distance of the carry. A PW will roll 2x the carry.  Note that these are for chip shots, not pitches, which take a longer swing, and have more spin.

Thanks, those distances is about 75% of the time , 25% I'm really off upto perhaps 20-25ft on the pitch shots.

But it's my drive inconsistency that makes me a 14 still... one day is one thing, the next day is another...

OH, I didn't know about those attributes! Thanks for sharing!

About the LW, I actually learned this from Phil Mickelson's DVD series.

Is it not recommended still or am I thinking of something else?

I use my LW a lot for chips , but for 10yds in, I use my SW.
