hi, i'm a 20 handicap golfer i'm 19 with a very fast swing, i'm upgrading my irons shortly and i am still unsure i have narrowed it down to these 2 irons, i need game improvement irons to get my handicap down, i just wanna be able to hit the ball reasonably long and straight and get some consistency in my game. the callaway are a year old and the ping have just been released so i was edging towards the ping because i have a G10 driver aswell and it's never let me down, but i have read some very nice reviews on the callaway that says it's the best iron you can buy, i was also looking at the Taylormade burner 2.0 but that iron is all about distance and is not as forgiving as the callaway or the ping from what i have read. any advice is much appreciated thank you.

if you have any alternative suggestions please let me know which club you think will work.

Get fitted. If your swing is evolving, get a fitting based on your size and desired swing.

Any clubs that fit you are better than the "best" clubs that do not fit you.

Between the two you've mentioned, both are great. If they both are a fit, get the ones that you feel most comfortable hitting -- looks, brand, and your thoughts about the clubs matter.

Callaway razr x irons

Ping G20 irons

My advice:

1.) Do more hitting golf balls and less reading. Broaden your horizons. Someone else's opinion might be of zero value for your needs and your game.

2.) If you carry your bag, have a look at a set of G20s in a carry bag and see if that suits your eye. I'm totally serious. Putting a set of PING G whatever super game improvement irons in the bag is akin to making a lifestyle choice. Not one I'm likely to consider, but not that there's anything wrong that.

3.) The Callaway review is just wrong. The razr x irons are not necessarily any better or worse than any other major manufacturer (i.e. "OEM"). If "quality" means they'll last forever, almost any investment cast iron should fit that bill. Eventually most players grow weary of any set of irons and most used sets on the market (e.g. ebay) have many years of good golf left in them. Even irons not made by Callaway - true story.

well i'm buying it online so if i get fitted at my local pro shop and then give the results of that to the website will they taylor the club for me with the results, like ping have the colour coded irons for custom fit,if i am a red colour code ping iron will they give me the red one or do they just all use the standard black colour code?

the reason i'm buying online is because i found a website that gets supplied directly from the manufacturers and there is no middle man involved so i am saving 150-200 pound on my set of irons.

You're getting "fitted" at a local proshop (not specifically for PING irons I suspect) and then this data will be used to buy a set at an online wholesaler? It seems like you've got the system figured out. Good luck with your decision.

I dont like that... Sounds like they are fakes from China. Good friend of mine bought a set of Titleist AP2's off a wholesale site for about £200 saving and they were clearly fakes when they arrived. When Titleist checked the serial number they confirmed they were fakes.

Be careful when you buy a "new" set of irons for £200 less off wholesale sites. 99.9% there not going to be genuine. Just abit of advice, but definatly be careful.

In terms of getting fitted, if you go to a PING fitter they can tell you your lie (dot colour), shaft size, flex etc. If you wanted to save money you can then buy a secondhand set and send them back to PING to be bent accordingly. As far as i am aware only PING offer this service.

Club wise, i have the G15 irons fitted and there fantastic in terms of forgivness etc. If you were considering getting the G20's have a look at the G15's first because there practially the same (apart from the graphics on the club) and there probably abit cheaper now aswell due to the new G20 line.

Hope this helps.

There is no such place.

You are buying fakes.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Get your iron shaft fitted and build your irons around that in my opinion.

Here is my two cents.

1.) Hit both clubs (acutally it more than just those two) and see what you like the best.  When I had to replace my clubs after they were stolen, I was pretty set on the Titleist AP2s, but I hit a bunch of clubs and I found a few different models that I just liked better.  You gotta find something that suits your game as well as your eye.

2.) At the very least post the website address of this online wholesaler, because I'd be willing to bet that you are about to buy fakes.  You are better off buying your clubs wherever you go to get fitted at.  It'll cost a bit more, but you'll know you are getting the real thing.  Also, the majority of places will put the fitting fee (or at least a portion of it) towards your new clubs if you buy them there.

I think there was a guy about to golf 365 for charity in another thread. As far as the website you almost posted a link for, it's as legitimate as your Hammer driver saga.
