That's cool.  I'm in no way trying to discount your shot and accomplishment.  Just pointing out to johnclayton that this particular hole looks absolutely nothing like the one he is describing.

You said yourself it's not a true par 5 so who cares.  Great shot.  We'd all take it.

He hit driver-4h, which is more club than most tour pros hit into par 5's these days.  Heck, I'm one of the longer hitters in my league and that would be driver-6 iron on a good day.

400 yards is not a long par 5, but in some ways I think it's more fun for the average golfer because it is so reachable in 2.  Nothing stinks worse than launching a career drive only to find yourself less than halfway home on a par 5.

Driver then 6-iron for 395 yards is not a longer hitter (yes, I realize you said longer hitter in your league ). I'm not a long hitter these days and thats 3-iron then 4-iron on an OK day. On a better day it would be Driver then take a little off a pitching wedge. For a long hitter it would be Driver then maybe take a little off a Sand Wedge. That's a little absurd for a par 5 in my book.

Of course the above is assuming the hole is as flat and straight as it looks, as well as ideal conditions (no wind), in the photos but we can only see it from 170 yards in.
