The golf pro i go to does this with me when we work on my wedge game. He has a flag thats about 45 yards out, and he will have me hit wedges to it, then he will tell me to hit it half way there, or to hit a high soft one 45 yards. Or he will have me hit a ball 75 yards, then go back to the 45. Just to so i don't get locked onto that one target.

Another thing he did was challenge me to hit 5 balls in a row onto the green 75 yards away. This green wasn't a normal sized one, just one of those small greens that are put out on the driving range. The first one was a practice shot, which i hit short. Then i hit the next one on, missed the next one, but then hit the next three with in 10 feet. I found it was easier to focus on the shot at hand when it was more of a challenge. So instead of just saying, that flag is my target line, it was getting those ball on that green. It was a more precise focal point.

Just some ways you can practice to mix it up, instead of just beating golf balls to death.
