I changed my spikes about halfway through the season, and for the rest of the season I struggled with keeping them in and not twisting out. I had to replace another 10-12 throughout the last half of the year just due to losing them. It seems the ones on the outside of my lead foot go first. I never had this problem till I took the original ones out and replaced them with the new ones. Got any tricks to keep them from falling out?

I am wondering if that stuff they use called thread lock would work.  They use it on bolts and nuts to keep them from coming loose, but you can still take the bolt out if necessary.

I don't know if it would work on plastic.  It might damage the threads.  The other thing that might work is teflon tape.  The very thin stuff they use on plumbing threads.

I think the replacement spikes are probably a bit smaller than the originals and that's why they pop out so easily.

Are you replacing the spikes with original equipment for your shoes or are you using a generic brand?

I am just using a generic brand. They are just the quarter turn soft spikes. I thought about crazy clue but not sure I could get them out after if needed. I don't think thread lock would work on plastic.

What type of spike are they?  The fast-twist I've found need an extra little 8th turn (basically one click) once they feel like they're fully seated.  Not sure about the other types, but I've never lost a spike and I change mine once a month.

They are the fast click ones. Maybe I just didn't turn them far enough but I turned them until it clicked. Maybe they were just cheap spikes.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
