I have a set of Mizuno MX300s that I bought from Global Golf.  They were used "Mint" condition, so the grips are brand new.  The grips that came on them were Midsized.  I have small hands and typically use a Ping aqua undersized or standard grip.  Either size will work,  I want to replace the grips with a standard or undersized grips.  If I use a compressor to remove the old grips, do I have to redo the grip tape? Is there grip tape under new grips?

Thanks

Yes there should be tape under the grips.  I have just put on Pure Grips and love them. No need for tape and if you have a compressor, imo it's the best option

You can do almost anything you want with the grip tape... I use 2 wraps under my left hand and 4 under my right for standard grips... But yes, there is usually grip tape underneath the grip so it does not slip...

The grip tape is applied to the shaft, not the grips.  Grips installed with grip tape and a solvent just use the solvent as a means of wetting the sticky stuff on the tape to allow the grips to slide on.  Once the solvent dries, then the grips are held in place by the tacky tape.

When using air, you are just bypassing the solvent by expanding the diameter of the grips to let them slide over the tape, then once air pressure is removed, they relax in size and the tape holds them in place.

So if you use air to blow them off, use air to blow the new ones on.  You won't have to do anything with the old tape unless you want to make the outside diameter of the new grips larger or smaller.
