Tournaments are interesting when good players play in them. Even better when Tiger wins.

Considering Tiger plays well when he has confidence, and since he just won it could be inferred that he's playing with confidence? With Rory and Lee joining the PGA Tour there will be more good players playing on the PGA Tour in 2012 it seems. Are you suggesting 2012 will be more interesting as a result? What does this say for the European Tour?!? Is there a problem with depth on the Euorpean Tour, unlike the PGA Tour which has the majority of players currently in the OWGR top 100 as regular members?!? Can't wait for 2012!!!

It's the chicken or egg question but I think Tiger has confidence when his swing is sound. I guarantee that's what he would say. He has confidence in this swing and his distance control and that makes him a danger to the others on the tour. He's a little wild off the tee but he always has been. However the wedge he hit on 18 yesterday was perfectly controlled and he's stinging his irons. It reminds me of his British Open win in 2006 at Royal Liverpool. It remains to be seen if this swing and his knee will hold up but it looks like 2012 will be a good year for Woods.

I figure he will win 2 majors and 4-6 other events.  The "young guns" who have never had to face the full force of a healthy motivated post-swing-change Tiger are in for a rude awakening.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I agree that the practice swings are funky, but I have to say Tiger's swings looked pretty awesome.  I only saw highlights for the first three days and some of the final round, and man that is a simple and powerful swing!  The sound is just different - to me his swing stands out compared to other players again.  And at the same time he is balanced and doesn't look like he is over-swinging.  Great stuff and I also like to see him mixing in some different shot shapes again.  I'm not typically a Tiger "fanboy", but I think his long game looked pretty awesome this weekend.

    • Day 12: did the yardstick putting drill for a bit while watching tv.
    • Hole 6, 185 uphill par 3, wind out of the right. I hit a 7 iron to 5-FT left of the pin. The ball landed about 185.5 yards. I drained the putt for a birdie, and most likely a skin.  2nd place is more of a best swing made. 110 yard wedge shot, where I did what I wanted in the back swing and downswing.  I hit a 75% partial wedge 95%. It was flushed, flighted, and beautiful to watch fly over the green. 🤣. I will need to redial in the wedges sometime. Since I am making an effort to make my former 3/4 swing length my full swing length.
    • Is that like "the longest yardstick you can find"? I don't have Airtags but I'd call all of them Airtags too.!
    • Yea, that makes sense.  I remember an Open tournament when they brought out the wind meter one day because balls were being blown around the green. I think it was 45+ sustained, which probably means 60 mph gusts.  I think for the most part, it isn't something that needs to be taken into account.  Also, a golf ball is designed to optimally move through the air. It has better aerodynamics than a sphere.  Thanks for your expertise on this. That makes sense. I know about how wind diminishes the lower in height you go. I didn't know it went near zero at the ground. I deal more with tall structures (utility poles), and we have to take into account height and impacts of wind on the pole. A bit of experience, but wasn't sure how close to zero, non-impactful it was on the golf ball on the ground.
    • Day 2 (7 Aug 25) - More work on tempo with mid-irons, moved to wedges for the balance of the drill.
