Have a 09 Taylormade Burner driver now, and thinking about getting a newer adjustable driver (either an R11 or Titleist 910). A couple questions:

1) What's the best way to get fitted for one of these outside of a demo day somewhere? I don't know if I trust a guy at Dick's to fit me appropriately.

2) Should I wait for the Taylormade RBZ to come out for the price of the R11 to come down?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

In my Bag (work in progress):

Driver: TaylorMade 10.5* R11, Regular Shaft
3W: TaylorMade Burner 15*

3Hy: Nike SQ Sumo Hybrid
Irons: 2005 TaylorMade Rac OS, 4-AW

Wedge: Cleveland CG14 56*, old dingy 64* wedge that I have no business using

Putter: Odyssey White Hot Tour Putter or a Cleveland Classic Anser-Style

Kicks: Footjoy E-Comforts

Ball: Used Titleist DT Solos.

I would personally wait a bit longer.  With the new RBZs coming out in the next several weeks and the season dying down for a lot of people it would make sense that the prices on R11s would drop as well.  You've lasted this long with your 09 Burner, a couple more months wouldn't kill you especially if it saves you $100 or more.

On the fitting note, I wouldn't trust a Dick's club fitter either.

Yeah,. I'm not in any immediate hurry, the Burner can get me by, it has for 2 years.

Any other opinions on fitting?

Their is another link to more fitters.  Not sure if the Georgia ones are close to Atlanta.

I'm not deadset on an adjustable driver I guess, but here are the reasons I was thinking:

1) I could "grow" with the driver (reduce loft, adjust face as I improve).

2) Thinking there has to be improvement in driver technology over the last 2 years

3) I've hit my father's R11 a few times, and enjoyed it.

Why do you ask?

I'm not saying not to get one by any means, I'm just enquiring why you feel you'll get more out of an adjustable driver than one fitted to your personal swing characteristics. :)

For me I haven't seen any compelling reasons to choose an adjustable driver over a standard one. I see it as if I need to use the club itself to correct a swing flaw I'd just be masking an underlying issue rather then sorting out the real problem. I can see the appeal for a monthly golfer who may not want to dedicate loads of time to improvement though.
