Folks,

Appreciate if you could help me with some experiences , swing thoughts, suggestions on the transition problem   I am struggling with for months now.  I tend to yank my scapula too much in the back-swing, resulting in my elbows going behind the shirt seam and cutting across the line at times. The resulting down-swing transition is steep as my elbow gets stuck and then  I  compensate and come under the plane etc. Thanks for  watching.

Happy to help if you just embed a YouTube video here: https://thesandtrap.com/how-to/embed-videos/.

Try uploading driver swings to see the hips better.

FO and DTL.  YouTube of course.

Your head dip early in the backswing seems alot.   Is your weight too much on your toes ?

I see sync issues ... where your takeaway is too much hands and arms.

You made lots of progress from 2012 to 2014 !

To feel the hips move properly ... you might need a better setup.

I think your left knee moves laterally (parallel to ball target line) too much and doesn't BEND enough (move towards the ball target line).

But to maximize feeling the hips, try being more active with:

setup normally and drop the club.  Put your left hand on your knee.  Bend the knee (knee cap move directly towards the ball target line) ... try this while straightening the right leg. Get the feeling.

The setup again, drop the club and put your right hand on the front of your hip.  Remember, the goal is to move your right hip AWAY from the ball target line. It really shouldnt move laterally AT ALL.  Lateral sway is just a liability.

Getting these two things started together (left knee bend, right leg straightening) early sets your hips on a different trajectory.

Being able to see the knees (shorts) helps analyze the hips.

At A4 (top of swing), your right hip has moved ALOT targetwards.  Which normally is good.   But this might be a bit much.  I think the earlier your BEND the left knee towards the ball target line (not allowing the left knee to drift laterally ) it will help things.

Above all ... upload proper footage !

The swing is over 5 years old.

As you know, but still… let's just see what new stuff he's got. Maybe it's the same, maybe not.

    • Day 120 - Played 18; much better than yesterday. Miss right now is off the heel of the club, so I need to sort that out.
    • Today we played Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, NH. Course was in great shape but my game didn't show up. I will say I pitched and chipped fairly well but almost everything else was very hit or miss. Cost myself a lot hitting an in play drive with pulling my approach shots maybe 85% of the time. Finally figured out I had been swaying most of the round. Only took me until 13 to figure it out. Used what felt like a much more centered turn and the ballstriking improved. 18 tomorrow using a 2 man scramble format. Just looking to contribute. Been a blast though.
    • Day 22: Hit balls with 7-iron using mevo+ to track dispersion. Was out for a long time after work; 86 balls but the first 50+ were 50% swings focusing on top of backswing feel and then just hitting the ball as a psychic reward. Finished with 20 balls close to full speed. Pretty happy with dispersion and also no horrendous misses. I’m chunking my priority piece out into two separate feels, first and more important is the position/balance at top of backswing which is what I was working on. Once I have that engrained I’ll move to transition part.
    • FWIW I never really had issues with the previous generation of Snells. But… I'm not sure I played them a ton, either.
    • I know Dean Snell designed the original Pro V along with a couple of other brands tour balls.  How exactly does the Snell ball have problems.  Did he change something in the design or is a manufacturing error since he cannot afford the unlimited R&D budgets of the big manufacturers to iron out flaws
