My Dad and I are planning a golf trip in late March with a couple other guys.  We're heading down to the Tampa area, and we're playing, among others, the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, and both courses at World Woods (Pine Barrons and Rolling Oaks).  I'm particularly excited to play at Copperhead because the PGA Tour will have just been there the week before playing the Transitions Championship so the course should be in immaculate shape!

Anyone been to the Tampa area for golf, and have any suggestions for some other great courses or hidden gems?

We were originally going to Myrtle Beach, but the weather in March will be too unpredictable.  It may rain when we're in Florida, but at least it'll be warmer.

I'm also curious to hear about others' planned golf trips over the next couple months.

No real experience in the Tampa area as most of my family is closer to Ft. Lauderdale, however I am going to New Orleans in February and playing The Bluffs, Belle Terre, TPC Luisiana, and one other course I forget the name of. I was in Hilton Head last February and found the weather was incredible so was a little suprised to see you passed on Myrtle Beach. Hope you have a great trip

I was really looking forward to Myrtle Beach, and I even had the courses all picked out.  I saw that the average temp in March is low-mid 60s...that's plenty warm for me.  The only problem is that it can still be windy, raning, and in the 40s at that time of year.  I'd really hate to plan the trip, be all excited to go play, and have that type of weather.  In Florida, it could still rain, but the weather is generally warmer and there's less chance of prolonged rain/cold.  We're basically just playing the odds.

As I have yet to go to MB, that trip is on my bucket list for sure.

Playing Messquite, NV in 2 weeks (highlight will be Wolf Creek).     In March, will be in Boca Raton, FL area & will get in a couple rounds.    If this weather continues, there will even be several more local outings ...
