I'm in absolute shock. I have this buddy who's family has had masters badges since the 50's. He works in the pro shop at the course where I'm men's league pres. So I'm sulking over my crappy round in the parking lot and my NEW BEST FRIEND invites me to the 2006 MASTERS!!!! Holy freaking hell!

This isn't one day or the practice round either. Its Thursday through Sunday!!! WOOOOO!!!!

What a pick-me-up. You really have something to look forward to especially after this years event. Wish I was you.

Pretty awesome! My boss went this year with our General Manager and old Assistant Pro (From what they tell me all Class A pros get tickets). They all said that TV does not do the course, tournament, or grounds, justice at all. They were all in awe once on the grounds. An opportunity not to be missed. Be prepared to spend some serious cash on gifts though. The GM spent $1500! hahahaha.

You're going to have fun. Gifts are expensive and it gets to be a real hassle when your buddies give you money to get them something. Food is very reasonable, you have to get a pamento cheese sandwich. It sounds crazy but it is a tradition that has been going on forever. I only eat pamento cheese sandwiches when I go to the Masters. You can get a beer and a sandwich for $5.

Living in GA I have been able to go 9 times, the best is during the week for the practice rounds. Most everyone is laid back and will talk to you. The weekend rounds are hectic and crowded. Even though it is a game of civility, some of the patrons (as Augusta National call them) can be rude. One year some jack ass was trying to wedge himself up to the rope where my dad and I were standing and wound up knocking my dad down over the rope. I thought we were about to get booted and was wondering how pissed my dad would be if I acted like I wasn't with him to avoid getting thrown out (it would have been a 120 mile walk home). Luckily the security guys saw what happened and helped my dad up, apologized and escorted the other guy away.

It is real hilly, wear comfortable shoes or set up camp on a green or tee box and stay.

Pros (or at least club pros) get in if they have their PGA of America card with them. I went with our club pro one year, he just flashed his card and walked right in.

I hope you have fun, make sure you stay on your friends good side or don't let him forget (11 months is a long time).
Cheers

Yes, I plan on saving up a ton of dough over the next year for the trip.

Never had a pimento and cheese sandwich but I'm figuring that will be my compete sustinance for 4 days!

I'll certainly be sucking up to this dude for 11 months!
