Anyone ever use it? Is it worth it? & yes, I know its only worth what you want to pay for it, but "was" it worth it? Any bad experiences or complaints?

And does it increase the value of the putter at all?

I have sent putters their many a time. it has been worth it for me to get the grip and the colors I want.

Plus, if you purchase a high-end grip ($37) and headcover ($72), you get a custom paint job with up to 3 colors for free. You can then sell the headcover on Ebay and basically the whole process will cost you less than $50, inluding shipping.

Is the custom shop putter in the glass case better then one off the rack. Check them out at Rodger Dunn. For twice the money (or more). You get a putter from the milling machines that gets some hand grinding and different stamps. Is it worth more $$$$ on the used market?  Not to me.

I just bought an almost new Scotty Cameron Kombi Mid belly putter from the pro at one of my courses for only $150, which is $50 cheaper than the truly "used" ones on eBay, and half the price of new off the rack. I was thinking about sending it to The Custom Shop for color and a grip. Unfortunately they only have one "belly" grip option. I just wish they did extra face milling…

Because they will do reconditioning and authentication, Im wondering if once all said and done the putter will be worth the $300 im into it for, or will it be less, or will it be more? I dont think ive ever seen a true Custom Shop Scotty Cameron offered for sale at the store… What do they typically sell for?

Rodger Dunn has them. They are twice the price and kept in a locked glass case.

The Anaheim store sometimes has custom shop refurbished putters which usually sell for less then a new one. Some models sell for more.

Scotty Saudi Prince - diamonds inlays in the three signature holes. Solid gold with for the ultimate in softness.  But I like the Gothic Girls tattooed cover.

If you plan on using the putter, then no matter what you do, the putter will not be "worth" $300.  No different than buying a car, once you drive it off the lot it begins to depreciate.  The custom shop will make changes specific for you, but that does not make the putter rare and valuable, that just makes it unique to you.

I'm not saying sending to the custom shop is a bad idea, if you want a unique putter that is a reflection of you, then go for it.  Just don't confuse unique with rare.  IMHO, Scotty Cameron makes the finest putters available, I own 3 of them, and looking to add number 4 this summer!

Ive owned about 4 different Scotty Cameron putters. Only really liked 2 of them. My Nike Method im using now is a much better engineered putter in my opinion. The ball seems to roll much truer with my Nike. I know some people are diehard Cameron fans, and would probably be "highly offended" by that statement. Haha, but its true. I just like my Nike a lot better than any of the Cameron's ive owned.

I was only curious about sending this one I just got to the Custom Shop because I got a great deal on it and thought I could make it just that much sweeter if it were going to be worth more as a "Custom Shop" putter.

I took a Hawaii vacation a couple of years ago and a golf ship near Waikiki beach had a row of custom Scotty's that the store actively sends in to the Custom Shop. They also had limited edition putters, like the My Girl putter, and they went for over $2000 each. The custom headcovers along were $150+. They weren't in glass cases but since it was a small shop, the owners kept close eyes on them.

Personally, I think sending it to the Scotty Custom Shop will raise the value of a putter more than sending elsewhere.

I mailed in my putter for a restoration on January 6th.  The Custom Shop website marked the putter as "received" on January 11th.  These days, the custom shop website says the turnaround time for restoration work is 50 days, which coincidentally is today (March 1st) if measured from the received date of January 11th.

I've been reading about people who experienced much shorter turnaround times than the ones posted on the website, but now I am looking at a turnaround time longer than that.  I understand that the estimated time is an "approximate" time, but I am losing my mind playing rounds with some hack putter I borrowed from a friend's garage.  Any words of encouragement or other experiences where the wait was a little longer are appreciated.  I don't want to call and bug them, but I have been waiting a loooooooooooooooooong time to get that thing back.  I also just wanted to offer an experience where the wait time was longer than estimated, just so people (like me) don't get their hopes up that they will get their putter back sooner than anticipated.

But, you forgot to add the time for return shipping, which is not included in the turn around time according to the website.

Yeah I remembered the return shipping, but they also say you'll get an email with FedEx tracking information when it ships.  The website still says "In Process" on my order.  So it hasn't shipped yet.  Plus, I live about 20 miles from the Custom Shop, so shipping shouldn't be more than a day.

My point was that most people have been saying they get their putters back well within the estimated turnaround time.  I'm just bummed that I'm not in that boat.

Who are "most people"? Every time I have sent a putter to the custom shop whether for restoration or customization, it has pretty much taken the full amount of alloted time for the respective service. You'll probably get an e-mail tomorrow. If not, call them up; they are very accomodating.

And I'm telling you it's normal, not "prolonged". People who post favorable opinions on static sites you would find in a Google search always tend to exagerrate how great the product or service is out of wanting to feel justified about their purchase.

I think anything longer than their estimated time is "prolonged," but I don't want to get in an argument about semantics with a stranger on a golf message board.  It just makes sense that a company would post a longer-than-necessary wait time so customers aren't disappointed when the product takes longer to get back.  And, in my experience, people are more likely to complain about bad service than brag about good service to justify their purchase.

In any event, I was just wondering if anyone else out there had to wait longer than the 50 days to get their putter back.  I don't know if it's "normal" to wait longer than the approximate turnaround time.  That wouldn't make any sense.

Somehow I missed the OP when it was put up but I have used the custom shop and in my opinion it was worth it.  It is the one club of my set that was stolen that I really miss.

I want to send my putter to the custom shop...  Thing is i'm skeptical that it's fake since I bought it on ebay - I really like the putter though and I want the dag on thing back even if it is counterfeit and I'm scared they will keep it, and send me a little letter for authentication that says it's a fake and that I should pursue the seller for reconciliation....

I want it authenticated and yes i would be disappointed if it was fake, but I like the thing!!!   Will they send it back if it's not real?

I'm pretty certain they have to send it back to you.  Every SC has a serial number and if it's newer a hologram shaft band.  Did you check the site to see if you could authenticate it yourself?
