My current school schedule didn't allow me to purchase a semester membership at a course for 200$, but I decided to pick up a driving range membership instead (75$ for 3 months, 1 large bucket every day 7 days a week).

Do you guys have any tips, or drills that I should maybe focus on certain days? I of course will be chipping and putting each day, but in search of a practice routine for swings.

I was thinking something along these lines:

Monday - Short Irons only ..maybe 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 swings
Tuesday - 6 iron -3 wood

etc...

or would you guys recommend using every club each day?

Im using this time to narrow down my distances for each club so when I hit the course I know what my capabilities of each club are. Knowing that range balls are flight limited: How many yards should I add to each club when im on the course?

man, i wish my range offered memberships.  i'd have saved a lot of money.   some people would probably disagree, but i'd say spend a lot of time hitting driver.  it's such an important club.  also probably groove two or three other clubs.  are you hitting off mats?  if so, hitting a lot of irons is probably not the best use of your practice time, at least until hitting it fat on the course isn't an issue.

with those flight limited balls, i'd be working more on direction than distance.  but i don't have a lot of experience with them.

I was under the impression that range markers are normally correct based on the reduction in flight of the balls, e.g. if the marker says 150 then it will physically be closer but the dropoff in ball distance will tally correctly to the marker.

The way I normally approach a large bucket at the range is similar to:

Balls 1-10 = Wedge half swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 11-20 = Wedge full swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 21-30 = 6i half swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 31-40 = 6i full swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 41-50 = 3i/4i half swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 51-60 = 3i/4i full swings off the mat. (10 balls)

Balls 61-80 = 3W full swings. 10 off the 'rough' part of the mat, 10 off the tee. (20 balls)

Balls 81-100 = Driver full swings. All 20 off the tee. (20 balls)

Remember the idea of range practice is not to just keep hitting balls but to get your body performing the correct moves , irrelevant of where the ball goes.

I'd also suggest filming your swing if possible to be able to check that what you're working on is correct. I use my iPhone which is not ideal but is adequate.

Depends, if i am warming up, i will play through the first three holes in my head a few times, using a small bucket.

Driver,  Iron, Driver, Iron, ect...

Then i usually go hit some short game shots and putt

If i am practicing, i will just work on one thing through a large bucket. So if its ball position, i will work through every other club working on ball position. If i want to work on inside 100 yards, i will spend a whole bucket on that. I really don't practice multiple things anymore. I use to just go from Wedges to Driver, but thats to broad to get any gains

Fortunatley I get to hit off the ground, which changes every 3 or 4 days.

Thanks for the incite MiniBlue, I will try that routine out tomorrow.

VIDEO. Lots of video of your swing. Hit a ball. Watch that swing on video. See what you want to keep the same and what you want to fix. Pick one thing to fix per swing. Repeat.

Create a hitting station with alignment aids. I work hard on set up fundamentals like distance from ball and how far apart my feet are with any given club.

Drill baby drill.

When I'm working on my swing, I change clubs less frequently and often use a mid-iron for that work.

When I'm working on my game, I change clubs a lot on the range and go without a hitting station for the second half of the session.

I try to hit shots with different ball flights: high, low, draw, fad.
