Course: Adams Pointe Golf Club: Blue Springs, Missouri
Hole: #12: 162yds
Club: 8 iron
When: July 2008
Bar tab: $0

The pin was cut on the middle/right portion of the green which sits down in a bowl so we couldn't see the bottom of the stick.  The shot was a little 5yd draw streaking towards the pin.........nobody could see it drop, but we were talking about aces while driving up to the green because the shot looked so nice.  The funny thing is we really didn't expect to find it in the hole........sure enough we arrive at the green...NO BALL...all we saw was the pitch mark 5ft in front of the pin.  Sure enough....it was IN DA HOLE!!

Fun side note:  I've made eagle 10 times on par4s.  .....including 7 out of 10 par4s on my home course. My career ringer score on my home course is -29.(thanks to making eagle on 11 different holes)  LOL

Wish it was my ace, but this is actually just as good.  My 15 year old gets his first this weekend (8/20/11).  I don't think he has stopped smiling since.

17th, 165 yards

3 or 4 hops and it just disappears.  Club pro took the ball, is having it mounted on a plaque with his name and a picture of the hole.

Way to go son!

Do you guys have any hole in ones?  How many do you have and were they in a tournament or any cool situations?  How far and what club?

I have 3.  First when i was 10, skulled a 7iron from 100 yds and rolled the whole way in.  Second when i was 15, hit a gw from 115.  Third, i was 17, hit a PW from 145 and spun it back in the hole, pretty unreal hole in one...and it was in the first round of the junior club champ and i shot 76 to take the first day lead, only to shoot 84 the next day and loose!

Let me know about yours!

Took 41 years to get my first, in August 2009. Hope I don't have to wait 41 years for the next one.

1st Hole Cleveland Golf Club, England.

172yds into a stiff breeze.

4 iron.

The ball, a Callaway tour i(s), has been hit just that once and sits on the mantlepiece.

I have been fortunate to have had 3 aces -

August 22, 1975, 16 years old, 8th hole at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. 168 yards, 7 iron intentionally hit short of the green cuz the ground was hard & it just rolled in like a putt. I went apeshit like you would expect a 16-yeard old to do. When we finished the round, the group that was in front of us said 'There he is!' & demanded I buy them drinks. Sorry, I was a minor.

August 3, 1991, 32 years old, 8th hole at Palm Beach Par 3 in Palm Beach, Florida. 120 yard, 9 iron, went into the hole on the fly - slam dunk. When I got to the clubhouse there was 4 old guys playing cards. I asked them what they were drinking & they looked at me funny. I said 'I just aced the 8th hole'. Bought them a round of beers.

May 5, 1992. 33 years old, 16th hole at Binks Forest CC  in Wellington, Florida. 156 yards, 6 iron. Was playing with 3 guys I met on the tee, total strangers. I hit the shot, it landed about 15 feet short of the pin, rolled and disappeared. I turned to one of my partners & said 'Did that go in?' He said yeah I think so. I said 'Well it's either in or over the green cuz it disappeared'. It was in. Got to the clubhouse & there were like 50 people in there. Gulp. I went to the bartender & whispered, 'Hey, I got an ace but I don't have the money to buy everyone a round. How about I write a check for $200 & you just let people drink off it?' That worked.

The reason I posted my age is, if you notice, there's a recurring thread in the aces - First one I was 16, 8th month, 8th hole. Second one I was 32, 8th hole, 8th month. Third was 16th hole. All multiples of 8. I have all 3 balls mounted on a plaque.

Guess 8 is my lucky number. But none were with a 8-iron. At least not yet.

    • I generally like par-3 courses and find it a darn shame that the last of them closed in my area during the pandemic. Part of it may have to do with the fact that I never have been very good with the longer clubs, so the short holes are a bit more my speed.  Being able to get in 18 holes in two hours was pretty convenient and, ironically, the lack of crowds made them peaceful places to be. Naturally, that's the same reason they no longer exist around here.  The second option sounds like a whole lot of no fun.
