Hello all, Ive posted some videos of my swing on youtube. My normal shot is a medium/high fade, though I can hit it both ways. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Thanks

i dont know much but i can only see one thing. If you can, try bring your club back alittle further on your backswing (parellel to the ground) It might increase your swing power and give you more distance.

thanks for your post Dent. It's true I have a very short swing but I still hit my 6 iron 190 and I can push a three wood to the 290 mark as well so I dont really need much more power, it's the control to go with it that would be nice I also know that I lose my head height through impact which certainly doesnt help, anyone have any drills to stop doing that?

I think you have pretty good swing now. Looks like you're fairly tall though. You want be careful to set your feet up outside of your shoulders.

From what I can tell, you dont have enough hip rotation on your backswing. This sets you up too upright at the top of your swing, setting you up for an outside to inside swing path (hence the fade ball flight).

The first response from Dent is correct, you would benefit from a larger backswing, but not for power. A larger turn will set your swingpath up better for the downswing motion.

From your front view video it looks almost like your not getting a transfer of weight to your right foot. I would say you need more rotation in your swing.

interesting you say that about the weight not being on the right foot. I actually believe I keep my weight on my right foot too much.

Can you please tell me though how you are figuring that my swing is too upright on those videos?

Actually you have good width and shoulder turn. Your arms and hands could be a little softer, that keeps your wrists from setting it makes your swing look shorter. You are really working hard to get your center in front of the ball. I don't think it is because your weight is to far right, you might try feeling as if your butt is coming through a little quicker with your front hip moving a little more up and away. Your upper and lower body don't appear to quite be in sync. You don't give your handicap but if your short game is up to snuff this is a low single digits swing right now.

Im a pro actually and I understand my swing fairly well, but its always interesting to get different opinions from people to perhaps get inspiration
I have always been fascinated by golf swing mechanics and I own, read and reread virtually every instruction book ever written lol

This is my swing sequence down the line. By the way, my head drop isnt nearly as bad as what it looks like in this pic, its just the wya iVe cut the pictures and resized them to put them together that has caused it.

your problem is that on your backswing your weight is going onto the outside of your right foot so you keep too much weight on your right foot on the downswing and can not transfer your weight through impact
try this
press a golf ball half into the ground and when you take your stance put the ball under the outside of your right foot at address when you swing back this will stop you from rolling onto the outside of your foot and help you to transfer your weight onto your left side on the downswing as you are too far over onto the outside of your foot and cant get back over onto the left.
On the downswing feel that you are rotating your torso to face the target and finish on your left foot

    • I know it’s her responsibility, but you’d think her caddy would’ve checked it? Maybe Greg Norman will send his best wishes to her…😝
    • I watched it on the AWNA website. It was a free stream.    The coverage was pretty bad, though. They were only covering holes 7-9 and 16-18. So you didn’t really get to see much.

    • Yeah, she said she asked the walking scorer, if I remember right, but that scorer is not associated with the Rules in any way.   The infraction seems odd to me, any time I've played "lift clean and place" (formally known as Model Local Rule E-3) it has been in fairways only, and that's the way the Rules themselves suggest it should be used.  I know that at Virginia amateur events each and every player is handed a rules sheet for today, I'm sure its the same at something as prestigious as the ANWA.  Its simply unfortunate that she didn't read the rules for the day.
