Hey all-

My story: I played golf a lot of my young life. I was on the golf team in high school, and was an average guy on the team. I pretty much gave it up after that. I just started playing again (about 2 months) and am looking for new clubs. I still have my original Cobra oversize from when I was 15. I am getting better but need to improve, shot a 90 yesterday. Typically I hit a very high arching shot, but do not have much control issues. My biggest problem since I have been back has been distance.

The clubs: I have narrowed my selection down to two clubs: (1) titlelist ap1 710 USED , or (2) Cobra s3's NEW

I was planning on buying used from global golf ? If you have any comments about this please let me know.

After hitting both clubs I think I like the feel of the ap1's better. Plus I have been told they will play a bit lower shot which will increase distance.

However my heart is with the S3 irons. I love the look of the s3's and have always played cobra.

Also I am taking into account the factor of new vs used.

I am leaning towards the used ap1 710's but please let me know your opinions

TX in advance

Man, I mean its not all about looks. If you can admit to yourself that you hit the AP1s better then go for the AP1s dont kid yourself with looks. As well for me it would be hard to compare a Titleist iron to anything else, but thats just me.

Globalgolf have videos which show in deatil what you can expect.

They are a great company to deal with.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I purchased an R9 3 wood from them. I bought it in "excellent" condition, and when I received it, it looked brand new. I didn't even see a ball mark on the face or a paint chip on the top of the face. Knowing someone who bought a fake R11 driver, the first thing I did was pop the head off and inspected the inside of it just to see if there was anything fishy and thankfully I didn't see anything at all. My order came very quickly, and the price was the best that I could find around at $70 including shipping (being left handed is nice because they have a 25% off coupon that you can use). I had absolutely no problems with them, and would definitely get something from them again.

Unless you live right next to them. If you live in NC you have to pay tax and shipping. They will not let you just walk in the door and purchase.

Craigslist, Callaway preowned, and Golfsmith are great for preowned but Golfsmith will not negotiate in pricing at all.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
