I got the chance to demo a set of these clubs today and all I can say is, "WOW!!!"  To use the cliche, they are buttery soft and one of the most forgiving blades Ive ever hit.  I can see why all of Mizuno's tour pros have switched to the 59s.

I agree that they feel pretty good but they aren't blades.

Mizuno calls it a half cavity (the top half is a cavity back). I agree that they're not "blades."

I am a big fan of the MP-53's. I don't hit the ball pure enough for me to play the 59's. Although the look and feel are great.

I dont hit the ball pure all the time either.  I didnt have any problem hitting good shots with the 59s.  Thats kind of the idea though.  They are a tour level iron that has a bit more forgiveness for when you miss the center of the clubface.

To be fair though, I was hitting off of a mat into a net.  Id love to get these clubs out on the course and see what theyd do off of grass and what the full ballflight is.  It will be a few years before theres a set of 59s in my bag.  With relocating to a new city and getting married soon, I wont be getting a set until they are available on Ebay in the $300 range.

I have hit them and they are sweet.  They feel very similar to the MP 60.  I have a 60 6 iron that I use for practicing (got it for $5).

I'm still playing a set of MP-32's that I can't bear to part with.  I don't think any true blade Mizuno has made since measures up. when they grooves finally wear off my 32's though the MP-59's will get a serious look.  They are sweet, I just can't shake the feeling that I'm really getting a down-grade

MP-33s are universally considered to be the best blades that Mizuno has ever made.  MP-69s are close too.  Not that theres anything wrong with 32s.  I used to have a set of them and to this day I still regret selling them.

BTW, some folks would say that 32s arent true blades because theres a bit of a cavity.

Yes, a lot of people who haven't hit older Mizuno blades say that.  I agree that calling the MP 32 and MP59 blades is the loose definition, but I also think Mizuno pushes the blade definiton on purpose. Even the MP-69 is perimiter weighted.

Agree.  Mizuno definetly pushes the envelope on what a blade is and tries to reinvent it into something that the rest of us actually have a chance to hit well.  Even the pros want something that has forgiveness but at the same time dont want some big, chunky, ugly shovel of an iron.

I have had my MP-59's since Christmas.  I play 3 times a week.  This is my 3rd set of Mizuno's with a set of Callawy's and Titielist mixed in.  The MP-59 are pure when struck properly.  I found that in order to hit the sweet spot consistently I had to set the hosel of the clubs right behind the ball.  Once I figured that out I started flushing the ball.  There is nothing like a Mizuno properly struck!

Nah the MP-59's are rubbish, you shouldn't play them...

I think youve been spending a bit too much time watching Martin Hall on TGC.

Too much time in the sun using my MP-59's you mean? heh

Anyway we don't get TGC here.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
