Well... Here is my problem... I seem to play fairly well until I have the shot where I THINK I can pull out the Nike 3 Wood. When I do hit it....which is 20 percent of the time...It soars nicely and I am pleased. But the rest I either hit dirt or whatever. I was thinking of just leaving it home. I recently bought a Nickent 4 Hybrid...Which I had never heard of. I went to Dicks to get a CPR and the pro talked me out of it and I hit the Nickent a couple of times and loved it. After having a couple of kids in the past couple years I am starting to get back into to it a little more. So...Should I just get rid of the 3 wood. Any ideas on what to replace it with...Perhaps another Nickent 2 iron HY.

Thanx all

If you hit the Nickent well, why not? I've seen several conversations on other golf forums where players are taking their fairway woods out of the bag and replacing them with lower lofted hybrids (like a 2 or 1 iron equivelant). That being said, maybe the Nike just doesn't fit you. It also depends on what situation you hit it in, are you hitting it off the fairway, out of the rough, or off the tee only? Different face depths/widths and sole profiles make huge differences in where certain fairway woods can be utilized. They AREN'T all the same, by any means.

But back to basics, if your hitting the Nike 3 wood 230 one time and then then next 4 times you hitting the ground then ball and its flying 120, why not get the Nickent 2i hybrid. I'm not sure of the distance you can expect from it, but lets say it only goes 210, thats still better than your average with the Nike. Not to mention that hybrids are versatile in that they can be played well from the rough and for chipping around greens.

Good luck!

LOL...Well...this one kinda does....I have never been to a Dick's before, but the one near me has the indoor driving range and swing analyzer, etc. The pro there was the old pro at the local golf course and has since took over the operation. I think he was a developer and realestate guy for a while, so money is not his worries..LOL...

    • Would You Rather Number 72:   Would you rather have a legitimate 5 handicap but every round you play the other 3 people in your foursome are playing off a 20. Or Would you rather have a legitimate 10 handicap but every round you play the other 3 people in your foursome are scratch or better.  Either way, I'd rather play with friends who play quickly.   Having said that,  I'd take the second option and play with lower handicap players.  Attitude and pace of play aside, I enjoy watching better players hit beautiful shots that can only make me dream.
    • I didn’t think of the non conforming aspect.  As for the strict following of the rules up until now we play “by the rules” in a relaxed manner. We have never held another accountable for their actions. Until yesterday I can’t tell you of an instant that something like this happen or even a disagreement. The guys that play every week told me they really thought he was joking at first when he told me he wasn’t paying me.  As of 30 minutes ago one of other members in the golf group text message who wasn’t even at the course yesterday removed him from the group. The group message has about 30 guys from the club that we just use to know who’s playing and what time. The text message doesn’t have any club employees it doesn’t have anything to do with scheduling tee times.  A couple guys some who were there and some who were had a private conversation thought it was bs and don’t want the drama. They all said it was bs each one said didn’t care since most sundays my daughter is with us as well as other players kids.
    • @wwk3I can send you something if you give me a way to contact you.  I'd rather not just throw it out in public... @scott61 I can send you something - how do I get your email? @Bnoble I use python to pull access codes, and c#/.Net to do the rest.  I could probably get you what you need.  Let me know how to get in touch with you and I'll see what I can do... @blagbogsLet me know how to get in touch with you directly via email. @WhirlwindLet me know how to get in touch - there is an easier way...

    • This was something that came to mind as well. Would it be, if it didn't conform then it could not be a 15th club?
