unless you maxed out the robots swing to the fastest swing on tour..its not gonna be effective is what I'm saying.  Say they chose 110 for the swing speed of the robot...it'll provide a certain distance but guys who swing faster will either be severely handicapped due to ball deformation or they will be longer than the stated yardage cap.

If they chose the fastest swing on tour for their measurements, then you're probably gonna affect the ones who swing slower than that.

All in all, I don't the a "max yardage" is the solution.  Working with the COR is a start, though.  I still think compression would be a better choice for lowering distance.

I played a lot of softball and COR and compression were always a big topic.  Compression makes a vastly bigger difference on distance and ball speed vs. COR.

Softballs that were 400 compression(same test, just different strength of materials) flew much further than balls that were 375 compression.  Changing from a 44 COR to a 40 COR produced negligble results.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

you're correct, the number of people who play "golf" and can't break 100 is about 50%.  Most of these 50% don't belong to a golf league or any other organized golf playing organization and don't keep handicaps.  While I don't know of any statistics what would support this my experiences says they probably couldn't break 120 if they played by the rules of golf.  But they enjoy the game and contribute to the golf economy so glad they are aboard.

I agree, limit the balll not the club. Though i think pro drivers should go back down to around 400cc, but keep the COR to 0.830

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
