Hey guys, I'm new to the site, but thought I'd start by showing a video of my swing. I could use some advice.

Here's a little background. I'm 20 years old, and started playing when I was about 18. I've taught myself how to play through books and videos, and haven't had a lesson, which is why I'm here! To hopefully get some pointers. I usually shoot mid 90's, but hopefully my scores will lower since my irons and drives have become a little more consistent.

Here's my swing just a few days ago (usually has a 5-10 yard draw on it):

I've been trying to work on my take-away. Trying to make it more "on-line" with my target, but I still tend to bring it inside. Also, my usual bad shot is a low hook.

Here is my swing from about 6 months ago before I tried changing some things (during this time I always hit a fade):

Just thought I'd post my old swing to see if you guys could see a change? I was told that I used to be laid off and had a semi-horizantal swing. So I tried to make my swing more upright and have less wrist action, especially at the beginning.

I would have a front view, but wouldn't you know the camera ran out of battery right after my first swing. Please let me know what you guys think, I could use the advice!

Thanks.

Looking good compared to 6 months ago. You have fixed your lay off well. At this time I would work on tempo. An old teacher of mine said,

"You're not hitting the ball on the backswing". I'd slow the initial takeaway down a tad.

Thanks for the reply TheShark, I appreciate it! I can see what you mean, my back-swing does look fast. I'll try toning it down next time I'm on the range. Thanks again.

  • 3 weeks later...

Went to the range today after working on it for a couple weeks and took some new video (with better angles and some front views).

I hit 7-iron and driver in the videos. Tried slowing the backswing down a bit.

Here's 7-iron DTL:

Driver DTL:

Here's a front view for both the 7-iron and the Driver:

Any and all feedback is appreciated! Anything you notice will help! Thanks.

***For some reason it won't post as the video, so only the links work, Sorry.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
