Hi,

I bought a set of Adams Idea A3s last year, and I notice the longer clubs don't sit quite even on the ground. Furthermore, I've always heard it said that having clubs fit to you is a great service done to your game. First off, can I take my clubs to a Dick's sporting goods? Or should I seek out another place? Also, will it be expensive? As a college student, money for a round is hard enough to come by. Finally, what kinds of gains should I see, assuming I go from a poorly fit set to a perfectly tuned one?

Thanks for your help!

Still searching,

Depending on how the clubs already fit you would effect how much the fitting and adjusting would cost.

The main parts of a fitting in my opinion consist of your club shaft length and flex as well as the club lie which is the angle your club is adjusted effecting how flat your club sits on the ground.

If you have to change your shaft length or flex then the price can vary greatly depending on the shafts you decide to go with. And adjusting the lie is often relatively simple for a proper club maker.

If you have any questions about the process or costs I would suggest contacting a golf center near you that can perform these adjustments.

Thanks for posting this, OP. I have similar questions for my bag, which I intend to keep for at least 2 years. All of my long clubs feel way too long, and I am very wild with them. I am a 100+ player, and I too am wondering if I should get my clubs fit. I believe they are standard length but I am only 5'4". There is a Golfsmith near me--should I take my clubs in for a "fitting" even though I don't intend to buy new clubs? Experienced golfers, please advise. Thank you!

I had all my irons fitted for lie/loft and only cost me £30 all in,.....

shalft lenght wont be to pricey if they are being shortened, all they do is chop a bit off and regrip,...so another £30?

shaft lengthening is different ball game and could go £100+ quite easily

Regarding lie adjustments.  Clubs have a material memory to them.  If you bend a set 2 degrees upright, over time they will likely bend back some.  Also if you have cast irons, make sure the guy bending your irons knows what he's doing.  I've seen irons snapped off in the vise.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
