Opening a small golf shop

Hi golfers,

I'm thinking of opening a small golf shop (1-100 products in qty). I would start selling online to attract customers (on ebay and my own website). The products I will start selling are putters since putters do not need large space to try. You just need a putting mat.

What do you guys think? Any advice from custom fitters and golf shop owners here? How much start-up money do I need if I already own a place?

Ok what putters do guys like to buy this year?

I actually know a guy who owns a small golf shop. I will tell you in the times of cheap internet shopping and huge golf megastores it can be extremely difficult to make ends meet with a small golf operation. What I can tell you is he stays in business one way, golf club repair. The Megastores all repair clubs as well but anyone who likes to tinker with their clubs like the feel of a smaller shop where you can visit with the clubsmith and talk through your ideas. I always take my clubs to him when I need a shaft changed or my lofts and lies checked. The majority of his inventory consists of different golf shafts and the such. He knows he doesn't have the buying power of the big boys so he won't ever be able to sell the premium equipment at a competitive price. He still sells some but not enough to keep him afloat on their own. Anyway good luck!
