All drivers are different so if you're convinced that a new club will fix your game then i would try them out but i would definitely say fix your swing and get more consistent then maybe you can buy a driver that adds distance. I could pull out the most draw biased driver and still find a way to slice it. Its more than likely the swing.

I moved up on the ball, and tried to square up the face more. The slice has reduced, but still is a big problem. It is about 10 feet off the ground the whole time with a lot of roll.

Here is a helpful drill that you can do in your house to help stop coming "over the top."  It comes from LPGA Teaching Professional Karen Palacios-Jansen.  I have found it very helpful.

I have been trying to keep my Right arm straight, and don't "swing" my wrists when I am close to impact. I am taking a 6 week camp this summer, so more help will be given. As to the other members (including me) who mentioned getting a new club, I bought a R11 with R11s stiff shaft. I hope it lives up to the hype!

Let us know how it goes,

I am looking into an R11 and am curious how much the adjustability will really help a slice

I have similar issues but I'm having difficulty with your post.  I have been inconsistent (putting it nicely) with my driver since I started golfing a couple of years ago and started slicing terribly this year.  I took a 1-hour lesson a week ago.  It took her all of 5 minutes to diagnose a multitude of problems and then show me the issues on video.  How I thought I was swinging was absolutely not how I was ACTUALLY swinging.  The difference between my perception and reality was startling.  There were too many things to fix in one lesson so she identified priorities to work on prior to the next lesson:

1.  Consistent ball position and height (more forward and lower tee height relative to what I was doing)

2.  Takeaway to the inside (this was a tough motion to develop...for me)

3.  Do not over swing (keep club and arm from collapsing at the top)

Am I now an excellent driver?  No.   Am I improving?  Hell yes!  Slice gone almost immediately barring the occasional one when I catch myself sliding back into my old takeaway.  Consistency is significantly improved.

I think it's a mistake to think your problem can be solved by equipment.  I would recommend putting any money you intended to use for a new driver back into lessons.  Maybe consider a different instructor.  Plan on hitting a lot of range balls.

Received the R11 today, I hit a couple balls and did some tinkering. They were going straight and far. The sound is more of a thud than a casual ding or whatever you want to call it. I'll be taking it out on some rounds this weekend, it looks promising!

I've had a similar issue for a long time that is now finally sorted out...

I was slicing almost every drive so my driver stayed in my bag. When i started taking lessons I finally was shown what was causing the slice and then we set about curing it one piece at a time.

The first step was the set up tilting back slowly, right leg back a few inches.

The next was changing to an inside out swing, this was done by getting the feel with a 7 iron and hitting lots of balls until I could draw or fade the ball at will, then going for that draw "feeling" with the driver.   By this point my massive slice was a slight fade...

Finally my instructor changed my grip to a stronger one.   I can now hit a draw , fade or straight drive almost at will .

The important thing was he didn't try to cure it in one lesson, but over the space of a month and he made sure i understood what was happening and why, with that understanding it now means that if I suddenly start to hit slices or hooks again I'll know why it's happening and hopefully be able to fix it.

*sebsmash* the ball flight was a lot straighter, even on the first hit. It still had a little fade so I put the 10g in the heel and now it's long, and straight.

Get some launch monitor data and use it to help make the decision. With a single-digit HDCP, shaft is probably more important than specific clubhead. Make sure you have the right flex, torque and kickpoint for your swing.

Also, get a lesson which uses a video camera. The pro can do "stop action" to show you what happened in good swings, and not-so-good swings. And, if you get some improvement, he can give you a video summary which shows "before" and "after" on your swing.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
