My wife and I have golfed together about a dozen times. She likes it if we go with another couple - having a female friend there makes it more enjoyable - able to focus on all of the chit chat - even rode with the other woman on one occasion. It works well. Our courses are in Mid-Michigan - very enjoyable experience just being out in the beauty of the nature. Then, tendonitis brought all of this to a screaching halt. She doesn't like it enough to jump on physical therapy and prescription drugs...the poor woman.

I've played golf with my wife a couple of times.  It is nice.  she doesn't play every shot or keep score.  So she wasn't really playing golf, but spending time together while I play and she hits the ball until she picks up.  She wasn't slow so it was fine with me.  I wanted her to have fun.

I'm glad my wife doesn't play...................

With that said, I don't mind playing with women providing they can knock it around and keep up.   I know several ladies I'd rather play with at my home course than some guy members....LOL
They don't have to be good....it's all about pace of play.

Only downside:

I can't whip it out and pee on any tree if the urge strikes.  I need to be discrete............LOL

I'd like to get my wife involved in golfing but with two young kids and living in a town with no family it's just about impossible for us both to go together. RTR '12!

I've got a date next week with a girl who plays at my club. She's supposedly quite good as well, not sure whether to really go for it and give it my all (I'm naturally pretty competitive) or to hold off and just take it easy.

Looking forward to it anyway.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this....she insists on playing from the mens tees... because "wheres the competition in that".....seriously guys, I'm in soooo much trouble

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
