Wow, I cant believe what I am reading. The SEC is the BEST conference in the nation. You Big 10 guys cry about the SEC getting an extra game to influence voters and such. Let me give you an example of how that sucks. Tennessee was going to the NC in 2001 (i think) and all they had to do was play in this "extra" game against LSU. Tennessee lost and didnt go to the NC. If we were a weaker conference and didnt have a conference championship, Tennessee is in the NC game with a chance to win its second title in 4 years.

I will give you Michigan, Ohio St, Wiscosin, and Penn St., but I laugh at Iowa and Purdue

As far as traveling goes, we went to Miami in 2003 and won. Granted we dont go often but we dont have to. Two years ago, Tennessee's worst season in a while, our confernece schedule had us playing 4 teams that were in the top 10 at the time we played them and one more in the top 15.

First, I am, nor Big Ten fans whine about the SEC Championship game, as it is a tough game, however, Flordia got two extra games this year, one against a horrible FSU team (although rivalry game) and the other the SEC Championship, but lets be honest here, Auburn is the only team worth its salt in the Western Division (Why not move Tennesse into the West so we could see more Florida vs. Tennesse title games). Moreover, if the season ended after the Michigan Ohio State Game and the Florida vs Western Carolina game, who goes to the title game, we all know its Michigan. Its not the extra game so much as the timing of the game, which is probably the fault of the Big Ten for ending its season earlier in the year. If the seasons for each conferece ended on the same day, the extra game issue would no longer be an issue. Second, I never classed Tennesse into the mix with the others, I at least give the Phil Fullofit credit for taking his team to play others, although they got smoked by ND at ND and lost to the domers home, and with all the troubles they have been facing lately they will have a tough game against Tedford's latest Cal squad. In 01 Tennessee had a great team, but they lost their last game, same thing has happened to Ohio State and Michigan several times. There were many times that U of M ruined Ohio State's Bid for a NC in the same manner. As far as Purdue, they have some good years, but it is true that they have more bad ones, but Iowa has had been one of the better teams in the nation this decade, the last two years they had the injury bug but before that they beat LSU in a bowl game in 2004 and beat Florida the year after that, they are a good team and certainly better than Arkansas, Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss, Kentukcy, and Vanderbilt. Finally, if we want to talk whining, how about the whining of Urban Crier to get his team in the Championship, now that is Class A-Division 1 whining, that even a Tennessee fan should agree with.

Did you forget about, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Purdue (on and off years).

No, I didn't forget. All those teams SUCK. Penn State is BIG TIME over rated just because they have Joe Pa as a coach. They aren't contenders for anything. Same goes for Wisconsin, Iowa looked poised to make a comeback but proved they still suck.... Purdue... are you kidding me?

Besides all of the SEC teams are not good, I will give you Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Auburn are perrenially good teams, while Arkansas, and Tennessee off and on are good teams but Miss, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Alabama and South Carolina (getting better with Spurrier) are not good teams.

Wrong again. Tennessee an on and off team? You're kidding right? Ole Miss and Miss. I'll give you, not the best teams in the conference, Kentucky is a good team, they went to a bowl game last year, won it, and will be better this year. South Carolina is good and getting better. Vanderbilt has shown it's ability to upset big teams, when they beat Georgia and nearly toppled Florida. Arkansas was the winner of the SEC west just last year. So in truth, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Bama, Arkansas and Kentucky are all Bowl-caliber teams.

The Michigan vs. Ohio State Drama is that b/c it is one of the biggest, if not the biggest rivalry in the sport. Every year both teams are good, and the game generally decides who wins the big ten and who goes to the Rose Bowl. The build-up to the game was not crap, and if not for the extra two games that Florida got to play after Michigan finished its season, we may have seen a rematch. Florida deserved a chance as much as Michigan did, Florida got picked and took advantage of it.

Horsecrap. Michigan had their chance to beat Ohio state and they lost fair and square. This isn't baseball, you don't give the title to the best out of 3. Michigan didn't deserve a title shot. The only people that wanted a rematch was Michigan fans. Florida deserved it MORE than Michigan, and they showed that they were the best out of all by beating the pants off a team that dominated the Big 10 all year.

Ohio State got thrashed in the NC game b/c their best player (Teddy Ginn) was hurt on the first play of the game taking away their quick strike ability plus they didn't adjust to Florida's great rush, which is unsual of the sweatervest.

Great thing about the SEC, we have more depth in talent than anyone. One player goes down it doesn't hurt us. And I'm not buying that Teddy Ginn was the reason Ohio State lost.

As for traveling, you can't just throw Vanderbilt out there as support, they have to play big out of conferece games. The bigger teams in the SEC won't travel, probably becuase of money (more money earned staying home playing FAMU than going to a big away game) and becuase if they lose, which is likely depending on the competition, they are behind the 8-ball in the rankings.

You're forgetting for a out of conference game to happen, both teams have to agree. How many Big 10 or Pac 10 teams do you think want to play Florida, Auburn or Georgia? Our coach here at Georgia, Mark Richt, said in a press conference that he would be willing to schedule USC (Yeah, the trojans) but I guaran-damn-tee you that it won't happen, because USC knows they can't go undefeated in a season if they play games like that. Nobody is going to schedule an SEC powerhouse in a non-conference game when they are looking at making a national title run. That's why the only team USC has scheduled from the SEC was Arkansas (which sucked at the time) and they didn't have trouble with them.

Since there's not much else to go on, all i have to do is point to the Nat'l Title, where EVERYBODY was saying Ohio State would march over the Gators, and instead the Gators showed what SEC football was about. There shouldn't be any discussion about it anymore. I'm not saying Michigan is not as good as SEC teams mind you.... they may be as good or better, but overall, the conference is FAR better than anything else out there.

Meyer is a transplant from the MAC conference. Tommy Tuberville of Auburn didn't whine like that when his Tigers got screwed, but apparently Meyer has no qualms about it. Although if Meyer didn't raise his voice, we likely wouldn't have the rightful national champion. Florida deserved it, and proved it. Any questions?

Flordia got two extra games this year,

One extra. the Big 10 is ass- backwards because they don't have a championship game. Thats retarded.

I love you Big 11 homers. You cannot be serious about that conference being the best. Trust me I hate the SEC as much as anyone, even though my Mountaineers put them in their place 2 yrs. ago, but they are the best.

Did you forget about, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Purdue (on and off years).

Is that the same Penn St. team that has had 3 winning seasons in the last 7. You mean the always overrated Iowa, give me a break. Same goes for Purdue.

I will give you Wisconsin, even though they lost to the second best team (Michigan) and did not even have to play Ohio St. last year.
Ohio State got thrashed in the NC game b/c their best player (Teddy Ginn) was hurt on the first play of the game taking away their quick strike ability plus they didn't adjust to Florida's great rush, which is unsual of the sweatervest.

By his own team mate talking him after the opening kickoff return.

Besides do you really believe that Ginn would have made that much of a difference. Even if he would have scored 2 more, hell even 3 more TD's they still would have lost. Smith spent most of the time on his back and it is hard to get the ball to Ginn when you are being sacked. The sweatervest just got flat out out coached. Finally don't even get me started on the Big 11's bowl record, 2-5 with your top two teams getting their arses handed to them.

Granted I attended the University of Southern California and I am a trojan fan by heart, I still cheer for Iowa everyonce and awhile. An extra game or not for the SEC, I would still rate them as the #1 conference but only by a small margin. The Big Ten has had some crazy good teams(Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State) in the 80's and early 90's that you were not going to win. I think the SEC is very strong with the teams they have, and how most of them compete for the title every year.

Yes, Iowa is overrated sometimes, but I wouldn't underrate them. I think Wisconsin is the most overrated team in the Big Ten.

I'm not even sure how this can be an arguement. The way the SEC dominated can't be overlooked. The best the Big 10 had got obliterated and humiliated by the Gators (and I don't see the idea that Michigan would have done better holds any water). "What ifs" are useless. In all honesty,, I believe LSU or Auburn would have done the same thing to OSU. Look at what LSU did to the "Mighty Fighting Irish" With the recruiting power of the likes of OSU, Michigan, USC, and Texas things can change quickly....but if there were a college playoff, we'd have only seen SEC teams left standing (provided they didn't have to beat each other up like they do during the season). No doubt about it, in 2006 the SEC was king.

Sorry guys, but it's the SEC. Give it up Michigan fans- You lost to the team that got HAMMERED in the Nat'l Championship. And sorry, Ted Ginn jr. was a good player but one wide receiver doesn't make the game. We heard that when Oklahoma (I hate OU, by the way) embarrassed FSU in 2000. Snoop Minnis was out of the game and somehow that made a bigger difference than the Hiesman trophy winning\geriatric Weinke.

University of Kentucky fan here...one of the most cursed teams in football history.

You should try living in Louisville. They think that beating the teams in the Big Least really means something. I was so happy when Rutgers beat them. It would have been nice to watch OSU of Florida destroy UL but it would have been bad for college football.

2 Who actually voted for them?

Two questions

1. I'm sure it (including the Big Least in the poll) was a mistake.

2. I'm sure it (someone voting for the Big Least) was a mistake. ---------------------------------- p.s. It wasn't I in either case.

Geesh that was easy............Florida, Tennessee, Georgia in just the SEC East is better than most conferences alone...........

SEC, by far in footbal. The SEC schools always beat the crap out of each other. I think the SEC is the most competitve Conference in all NCAA sports. Maybe not the best in each sport but definitely the most competitve.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
