hey guys I've burned a lot of things in my brain and now i just have this combination of too many things in my swing and my head is cluttered on the course and i have absolutely no confidence.

basically i just want to know the fundamentals to the modern golf swing because I'm surely doing something wrong.

i have two things that are driving me crazy about my game lately:

1. driver slice

got rid of it once upon a time but its come back into my game recently. something tells me I'm hitting at the ball instead of swinging because my grip and forearms have been tight lately, been swinging it like an iron.

2. LOW ball flight

its definitely a piercing ball flight and i like how I've been compressing my irons but for some reason they're not climbing. perhaps I'm not coming down on it enough? i have no clue.

golf has become really unenjoyable for me lately :(

I've been playing bogey golf for awhile and its plateaued and actually gotten worse in my attempt to get closer to par golf by tweaking my swing.

HELP ME!

#1 and 2 are probably related.  Good chance weight isn't far enough forward, handle isn't forward at impact.  Hitting down more would make it go lower.  Hit balls with the weight forward and feel like the handle is raising into the followthrough.  Not like the forearms are rotating.

Good drill for you to do

its funny you say that because I've been told my hips move too much forward and my hands can never catch up. i have really really quick hips.. i am wondering if its possible to have over active hips because the only times I've hit draws with my driver are when i ignore my hips and use all shoulders oddly enough, my hips still obviously do something.

also that drill looks very stack and tilt, which i know is heavily advocated here but i don't swing that way so I'm not sure if i want to work on a drill that doesn't necessarily go with my swing. i have an upright swing with lots of rotation in both my body and hands. not too sporadic and very powerful.

I'm starting to feel how the left arm helps with accuracy and right arm controls a lot of power. my left side is really weak do to a broken collar bone and i wonder if that hinders my ability to pull the club head quickly and to hit it hard i push it too much.

i was hitting my driver better than ever last week with draw and i can't seem to get it back. i know exactly what i was doing. maybe ill work on that again. idk.

i appreciate the help.

Well I'm not a stack and tilt guy instructor.  I don't care how you swing, to hit a draw certain things have to happen.  This is not a matter of opinion.  The easiest way to do it is to have the weight forward and stabilize the rotation of the face.

Do this, watch how the hands more up from impact to the followthrough

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.

    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
