I suck!  If I could get off the tee I might have something going for myself.  Now what I really discovered is that if the hole is 400 yds or there abouts, I hit my tee shot 200 yds( very very short even for me), I hit my 22deg Titelist FW  I am almost pretty much consistently on or near the green.  Extremely easy to hit wood, R300 shaft.  Pitch and/or putt.  Done.  SO my thought is this, how come I can hit my 22deg about 200 yds consistently.  I can layoff it and get 185 and hit it "normal" and get maybe 205 with a slight draw.  Weird but true.

Played almost every day this week.  Lots of stress put on my game cause my driving has sucked.  However hitting a 7 wood, Titelist, Orlimar, or Cleveland and it's almost embarrassing cause I hit them  right up on the green or very close to it.  I ain't kiddin either.  Especially the Titelist club.  The thing hits itself pretty darn near.

Now I'm thinking to myself maybe carry 7 iron through LW.  Golf what a puzzle.  thanks

PS  I seriously can't remember what it is like to hit a drive solid.  Off the toe, heel, bottom of the grooves, very familiar.  I guess what ever gets it done

You may have just discovered that you have the wrong driver. What kind of driver do you have( loft, shaft flex, etc)? Since you hit your 7wood with an R flex shaft well I'd make sure you have a similar R flex shaft in your driver. You also probably need more loft - somewhere around 11*.

If you can really hit your 21* 7wood 200 yards then you probably have the ability to hit it 240ish off the tee with your current swing.  Do you have a 3wood? Maybe pickup a 3wood/4wood similar to your 7wood. That should give you 20 more yards off the tee and they are much easier to hit than driver.

Up until this week I would have said that my driving and short game are what makes me a bit better than a bogey golfer.  My driver is a Titelist 907 D2 stiff Diamana shaft.   Something like that.  Gray colored and S flex.  I only play 9 holes and I walk.  The only good drive I hit today I nutted it, pull left and hit the very top of a very tall tree about 180 out and fell straight down.  You could here it bouncing off limbs.  If it didn't hit the tree it might have gone o.b. anyways.  I have a Sonartec and Orlimar 3 woods so maybe I'll look there.  thanks

Longbow, according to what i understand, the perfect driver shot is a straight pull. Maybe that's why you felt you hit the best shot but it pulled straight into the trees. Also hitting up on the driver feels really weird compared to any other club which we hit down.

What i did was: Really aim body right of target (closed to the target). Aim Clubface to target. Crush it!

Lately my driving has been on point. Yesterday I hit about 4 skyballs. 2 nice fades 2 unrewarding draws and 2 pulls That were ABSOLUTELY CRUSHED! one I thought had gone OB on a par 5. I found my self 100 yards up from where I was looking at the 150 mark just off the fairway about 10 yards. The other I never even looked for it.

Great to hear that! Also, about the pulls that were crushed... you gotta love that feeling.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
