I am playing in a 3 PM 4th of July Scramble at a local course that is not where we play every week.  As such, the four of us agreed to play at 9 AM to warm up for the Scramble.  The scramble is $45/man and includes prizes & Bar-B-Q afterwards.

I inquired at our club, but no one was interested in playing a "game" on the fourth.

Let me know what ya'll are doin.

630Am every morning through Sunday.................that's as far as I've planned ahead.  LOL

I played today with my girlfriend and shot a 92 and she shot a 105. Best for her and second best for me ever. It was a good day, even though it topped 98 here in TX :)

Man I couldn't find a tee time where I could get anyone to play with me. So I'll either be going alone or just going to the range for a while.

It's weird. Our high today is supposed to be 97 here in Orlando...and we're the cool spot in the country!

This is always my rationalization for living here year-round. People would say 'Oh isn't it hot there in the summer?' and I would say 'Where isn't it?"

was shocked there really wasnt many people playing today. i went to the driving range and putting green and it looked like i was gonna tee off alone. i get on the first tee and put my tee in the ground and then comes a guy off the back nine driving up to the first tee. i invited him to play with me and he accepted. he was a very nice guy but one of those who hits low low pushes right and refuses to aim way left lol. we played the front nine together and i think he hit it over 6 in the air maybe 3 times. didnt keep him from trying to give me lessons though lol. i would just really like to be able to play with someone better than myself but its all good

i ended up shooting 92. had to take 2 reliefs (tree roots) and on the back i have a 9 on a par 5 that i normally par (tee shot left, punch out hooked back into the woods, 2nd punch out went 50 yds hit a tree then came back almost to the same spot, 3 punch just short of green, chip over the green and landed is mud, 2nd chip was short, 3 chip landed on the green 6ft away, 2 putted)  feels like a played good today besides throwing away 6 shots.

hope everything has a safe and fun 4th

Indeed what I did.

I shot from the blues for the first time, walked for the first time this year in the 99* heat with a 102 heat index, and shot a disastrous 99.

But what I gave up in strokes, I lost in weight LOL

The score really isn't as bad as it sounds though, most of my dropped shots were from the club slipping in my hand. Switching gloves every hole isn't fun either.

Scratch that, my weather app just updated. It's 101 with a 109 heat index.

I tee'd off around 9:30 with a guy from work, so dead cuz of the heat (set a record high for the day here) the course let us play 18 for half price. Played to the norm of my abilities.

I did pretty well. We teed at 9:30 and by the time we made the turn it was 93. My two playing partners wilted a bit but I kept it together and even had a better back nine than front. 79. I too was well prepared. Two caps, two gloves, two water bottles.

i played a casual round with a friend.  the course was pretty packed this morning, so since we weren't going to be tearing arse around the course, we decided to each play 1-man scramble format.  my friend managed to come in with even par 70 and i shot 63 (i had 10 birdies, but 3 bogies offset it a bit).

I did in the evening...it was great. With the heat and the holiday, course was empty.

Played 36 yesterday at my club in Houston (Deerwood). It was packed, everyone must've took off on the 4th. All the pins were US flags with holders at the side of the green, a nice touch for the 4th.

    • Day 11, 1/11/26.  Today was putting, along about 6' of carpet, with coins on the ground to keep me cognizant of what I'm doing.  I think this is the at-home drill from LSW. (Ugh, missed two of the last four days -- 1/10 and 1/8)
    • Day 9: 2026.01.11 Hit some balls at the range, concentrating on weight distribution at address, got some on film.
    • Day 468 - 2026-01-11 Loooooong day. Did some work in the patio door (as a mirror) when I got home.
    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
