Played the last 16 of our pairs knockout today. What a game! Was 3 down after 10, got back to level after 18 and won on the 6th extra hole. Most controversial match of golf i've ever played. 3 of us were in one bunker on last with us 1 down, with my dad in a different one. Dad plays and runs through the green, first opponent stiffs his, with me and other guy dead under lip in the bunker. I try and get out but dont, the ball comes back and hits me, i pick up, opponent manages to get out playing away from green but nowhere so picks up. I've already conceded the game in my head (but still making opponent knock it in to win, with my dad with a chip to play) and look at my ball. I then realise that it wasn't my ball. Turns out that the first opponent (who's stiff) played mine. I thought that meant he then should be out of the hole leaving my dad as the only one left in the hole so should win it. However, we all decide to replay the hole completely. We replay it and my dad makes our par but it left them a 3 footer for the win, horse shoed out. Playoff. The other opponent to the miss on the last then missed a 10 footer on the first extra hole and a putt of less than 2 feet on the 2nd. The same guy then rams in a 30 footer for the half on the 3rd. I make a 10 footer for half on the 4th. On the 5th the guy who 3-putted the last in regulation then had 2 putts from about 35 feet to win it. He leaves his first putt 5 feet short then his 2nd an inch short (by this time his head has completely gone). Finally on the 6th i make a ridiculous up and down from nowhere to take it down. Unreal match of golf!

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
