Looking for super simple and easy.  If it is too complex or time consuming, I won't do them.

Cat stretch is very easy, works your abdominals as well. Inhale the head up, exhale the head to the chest.

Here's one that's great for lower back:

You don't need to get your elbow all the way over, but do it as far as you can.

And one that I can't find a video of:

Laying on your back, bring your left knee to your chest and bring it across your body. Extend your left arm out, and look to the left over your shoulder. Keep both butt cheeks on the ground.

I would add 'Planks' to that list.

Get in the position like you are going to do a pushup but on your elbows, make sure your back and legs are straight, and hold it for 30 seconds (or 40 or 60).  That one works really well for me.  (3 'sets')

Also, and I know this sounds silly ... 'flex' your stomach muscles (basically feels like you are just sucking in your stomach) while you are doing some of these exercises, when pretty girls walk by, and even when you are just sitting at the computer.  I do that all the time, and it helps too.

Two exercises that I am doing following back surgery are:

isometric-style crunches, lying down with the legs bent, lift up into the crunch position and hold for 10 seconds. Work up to 20 reps. A strong core is vital for lower back support.

Kneel on all four and put the left arm and right leg straight out. Hold for 10 seconds, then switch to right arm and left leg. Work up to 20 reps. Strengthens the muscles that support the spine.

Planks, but sideways, strengthen the external obliques, taking a load off the spine when making turning motions.

    • Lessons.   I asked Erik this once and he said a good player could shoot a good score with less-than-adequate clubs.
    • So I have a son-in-law that I really like, and he plays.  Not great, averages 100-110 on a normal course.  For his birthday I got him a series of 5 lessons (he's never had lessons before) from a well-regarded local pro.  He hasn't started them yet.  For Christmas I am getting him a fitting and clubs from a local clubmaker with credentials and equipment out the wazoo:   And following the fitting I will be having the clubmaker make him 13 clubs (he already has a putter he really likes and putting is one of the better parts of his game).  I'll let the clubmaker and him work out how many 'woods', how many and which hybrids, how many and which irons, and how many and which wedges.  Other than paying I don't want to inject myself into the process. So my question for the board is which should happen first, the fitting/building of the clubs or the lessons?  I can see arguments on both sides and I just thought this would be a good place from which to get some input.  Thoughts?
    • Day 2: 12/11/2024 Today I spent another half hour or so in front of the mirror working on my PPJ. I still feel like an orangutan performing brain surgery with a hack saw. It's a big departure from the way I had been timing my moves in the past.  Here's a quick video of my practicing.
    • Two summers ago, my dad spent 3-4 months going back and forth from hospital to rehab. Sadly, it was his cholesterol meds causing muscle atrophy that kicked it off. At any rate, we weren’t sure he would be around very long let alone play golf again. Long story short, my son and I played a round with him this past summer, and he whipped us both. Never say never.
