First of all, I am not happy about this transition but I feel that it is necessary because I recently injured my right wrist playing golf and volleyball and I have developed tendonitis.  I release the club really hard and hit a draw, to alleviate some of the stress on that tendon I need to calm my release down and in doing that I have developed a fade instead of a draw.

I have always been able to shape the ball both ways, but the draw is my "go to shot".  I have a severe dip in yardage, 10-15 yards when hitting the fade, and if this is going to be a long term adjustment I need to know how I can get that yardage back.  For example: I hat my 7 iron 170 when drawing the ball but I will only hit it 155-160, my 8 iron distance, when fading the ball. Also, I have an in to out swing path and I have found that it makes it easier to shape the ball right to left verses left to right.  I definitely hit a pull fade.  I have always hit a fade by holding off the club head and releasing it really late to ensure that it starts left of the target.

Is there a better way to produce a cut? If so, how?  How can I regain my yardage back with the fade?  Also, I am not against a total revamp of my swing if needed.  I love this game and I want to play for a very long time.  Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Thank you!

Its funny Jared I'm trying to learn my draw ha.  The easiest way for me to hit a fade is swing a little bit harder then normal and concentrate on leaving the club open after you hit the ball. If you don't rap the club around your back after impact it usually ends up either straight or with a little bit of a fade.  Another thing that works well for me is to stand a little open at address and swing down the target line with the above advice. Its easier than you think and don't think it will have an effect on your distance once your hitting the ball solid my buddy and I hit the ball about the same and were about the same size and age and he plays a draw I play a fade.

Isn't tendonitis only like a couple weeks if you just relax the tendon?

How do you hurt your right wrist in the golf swing? The left wrist I can understand but the right wrist shouldn't be an issue...

Anyway, holding off the face is a decent way to hit a cut, but it's more stress on your wrist. Opening your stance will make the ball go a bit right, try a forward ball position, maybe changing your grip and stance a bit will solve it, but I think there's something regarding the way you get power that's making you work harder. Maybe your grip is a bit off or something is stressing your wrist, or you're a touch out of position and need to use your hands to force the clubhead to square up... I'd just rest it and not change my swing. I think you shouldn't see much improvement in your wrist by hitting a cut; it's unlikely to help by itself unless you swing slower as well. I'd get your swing looked at once you fully recover, I'd bet you could go on hitting the draw with a couple tweaks that will prevent injury.
