How do I know what putter to buy?

If you want to truly be fit for a putter that you can aim and has custom weighting built for you, go see an Edel fitter. Truly the best putters in the world. edelgolf.com

For those of you that think that what GWLEE7 said is "not supported in scientific studies" I have two stories for you but I will keep it very short and too the point.

2 of my many golf buddies went to Golf Galaxy to get fitted.

Friend 1 was loaned several putters until they found the right fit for him. Time taken for fitting was just shy of 2 hours. He had his putter adjusted to the "same" stats as the putter he was loaned during the fitting. His putting improved for a few months but he never felt right. So he ended up getting the exact model that he was loaned and is now very happy.

Friend 2 was fitted in the same way. He didn't know anything about Friend 1's experience. Same thing happened to friend 2 except he decided to buy the putter they loaned him for the fitting rather than chop and re-grip the one he had.

Both friends are putting much better these days. This happened at Golf Galaxy in San Antonio, TX.

I spent about an hour at golfsmith last night and had the putter lick me in the face moment. I purchased a ping redwood cost me around $150 and loved the feel I'm going to take it out on the course tomorrow thanks for all the help I love this site

      Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.

      It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
