Hi. A friend just gave me a Vokey 56x11 that he found in his garage. Does anyone know what model Vokey and from what year this is? I was hoping to learn a little bit more about this club including trade value. Thanks so much!

Trade value will be next to nothing maybe somewhere between 5 or 10 bucks maybe as high as $15. If I was you I'd clean it up and put it in play...

I believe that is 2010.  It is for sure worth something on ebay.  Depending on groves, maybe 50-60.  The oil can finish always looks a little worn.  I'd be suprised if you didn't get at least 40.

Thanks for the replies. Lately I am hitting the ball well enough to warrant an upgrade from my SGI stock wedges (Diablo Edge 48PW 52AW 56SW 60LW) so I was just contemplating whether to sell this Vokey and buy a whole new set of Vokeys or Cleveland wedges or keep it and upgrade around it with other wedges of the same model (also why I want to know what wedge it is). Thank you again, and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Vokey Spin Milled. It's got the old grooves (which you can tell because the saw blade logo is red, not yellow), so sometime in the late 2000s.

Hi Jamo,

so would this be SM or SM 2? or is it impossible to tell?

Thank you

Not sure quite what you mean. Recently, Vokey has made four wedges. For a while they made the 200 series, which was inexpensive and not spin milled. This is obviously not that. At the same time, they made the Vokey Spin Milled (that was all it was called). With the 2010 groove rule, they introduced a newer edition of the Spin Milled, identifiable by the yellow logo as I mentioned above. Then recently, (last year I believe), they discontinued all other lines and introduced the SM4. To the best of my knowledge, there was no "SM2." If you're asking if it has the new grooves, the answer is no. Hope that helps.

Hi Jamo,

Based on your information, I feel pretty confident saying that this is a pre-2010 Spin Milled.

I think there are SM2s and SM3s though (http://www.golfsmith.com/product/30047204/titleist-vokey-tour-chrome-spin-milled-sm2-wedges)

I just want to make sure I am getting the name right so that I do not misrepresent the club if I sell it, which I am leaning towards. I know I'll never be a tournament/competition level player but the idea of having "illegal" equipment is iffy to me. Also, I would like to find matching LW, GW, and hopefully PW so I think it would be too tough to find the older models.

Thanks again!

I think that's rust and not the oil can finish, you may want to take a light scotch brite pad to it with a solvent.

You underestimate how much people will overpay for a Vokey on Ebay.  You underestimate them greatly...

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
