Can turning the shoulders less the 90 degrees contribute to a weak slice?

I have a decent shoulder turn however at times it can be sloppy. Quite often I rush it and don't make a full turn. My 'bad' shot is a weak slice with my longer clubs and a big slice with my driver.

I noticed at the range yesterday that if i really turned the shoulders (+90 degrees) I was hitting a nice draw with my 3 hybrid and driver - something which I have never done!

What's the liklihood that this was down to my shoulder turn?

I would almost bet 100 dollars that the reason you made better swings with the shoulder turn instead of a weak slice is because you arms had time to get back in front of your body before you rotated toward the target.

Dragging the club through because you turned too quickly is a surefire way to come across the ball and put right spin on it.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

    • Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
    • It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
