Lets say  you were to run into a person brand new to golf looking for a set of clubs/putter.

As for as putting goes and taking OUT the possibility of the long putter being banned, what would you recommend?

Regular style putting

or

Belly/Long putter (Anchored)

Just interested in what a lot of people think would be easier for a newer person to putt better.

Beginners have putted with a regular putter for 100's of years. It is one of the easiest clubs to hit decent so I dont feel much aid is needed.

If they were new to the game with no preconditions of how to play or putt, I would go regular putter also, I feel like it's more flexible in the long run.

Regular putter because it would teach them proper mechanics instead of relying on anchoring a club to your body.

Regular putter since most people have played mini golf in their life and hence have been exposed to a traditional putter.  In addition to that, no other club in the bag is anchored so it would inherently be easier to use a traditional putter when first learning the game.

If they are looking for there first putter. I would say standard putter first, because the one downside to the belly or long putter is that its not good at long (lag) putting. Its hard to gain feel for longer putts, but its really good on short putts. So if you are good at making shorter range putts, i think a standard putter has an advantage. If not i see no problem with a longer putter, if that allows them to make more putts

No one really knows what is going to happen but there is enough noise about banning anchoring clubs that I would start someone with a regular putting style.

I played a few holes holes with a young man who plays on the "Arizona mini tours" and he used a belly length putter without anchoring it. I asked him what the chatter on his tours was regarding the ban and he felt very certain the ban is coming. Just saying some of the young guns are getting ready for the ban.

Yep. Growing up our public pool had a putt putt course. Played the hell out of it when I wasn't in the pool. Reason I putt well today really. I had to learn to read greens instead of figuring out where to hit off the side board to get into the clowns mouth, but hitting it where you want it to go and some predefined distance is a great start!
