I am 27 years old, decent swing, the only thing wrong I believe is I could do with more lag/wrist action.

I hit a few great shots when I was focusing on keeping my left arm straight and letting my wrist go loose at the top and I really caught them nicely... I usualy hit my 9-iron about 150yards.

But the practice range is only 180 yards diagonal so I can not hit my driver on there and when I get on the course I struggle to replecate the correct swing to enable me to hit these really laggy shots... I was only able to catch them right a couple of times on the practice like I said.

should I keep practicing this on the practice ground with my 9-iron/wedges and then maybe try hit a few of the tee on some of the flat par 4's for practice..

I have been so pissed with not being able to break 250-260 with my driver for years, I mean it feels like I crush it when I get these distances on the course... But surely if I can replicate the swing that hit my 9-iron 165 with that same lag feeling/ relaxed wrist thing, surely I will be hitting it closer to 280??

any advice on practice techniques here?

I seem to get really bored fast on the practice, I loose concentration and I will start hitting shanks... I play off about 5 handicap but this shot creeps its way in when I loose focus on the range.

I have been having a little bit of success by constantly changing swing thoughts every couple of balls... for instance I will hit a couple thinking keep my left arm straight, then the next few thinking keep my head straight, then onwards... Then hopefully all these things will become engrained more.

I guess I need to find a way to practice that suits me, anyone else know what I mean about this?

thanks for reading

To keep your focus, pretend you playing a hole on the driving range - driver, 5i or 8i (par 4), or fairway and wedge (par 5).

Go at 80% of swing on driver and see if more precision on the swing nets you more distance.

Find a few swing thought(s) that work that day -as you do - and work on them one at a time, as you are doing.
