The one that hits the ball solid on a more consistent basis. Both seem like good swings.

Right now I prefer the stronger open alignment of the one at the bottom. I'm can sense that one is fade alignment and that's my ball flight now. The one of top is similar to type I have been playing , a weaker , closed alignment with draw tendency but I recently hurt my left shoulder and can't line up like that Who know if my ball flight changes , And if my injuries heal might switch back to the top model.

Then the answer is the guy on the bottom.

The guy on top has been a range rat for a number of years and has put a lot of work into his game taking lessons from many of the top teachers...he has won at least one club championship but has never got out of the first stage of Q school (and the pre-qualifying since they introduced it).  I have only played once with him this year, but have played a lot with him in the past and his worst miss tends to be the right on right shot (a block) but on occasion he will hit a duck hook.

The guy on the bottom hits the ball VERY PURE.  In person, his swing seems so simple and solid while generating a lot of distance (about 295 according to his PGATour. com stats).  He hit 75% GIR in his only PGA Tour event, finishing t44.  During 2009 & 2010 he hit 76.7 & 80.6% GIR in 5 Nationwide starts.  As a full time Nationwide player in 2011, he hit 71% GIR (29th).  This year he shot 62 to take  the first round lead in an NGA tournament and finished -21.  He is currently tied for first at 1st stage of Q school with back to back 68s.  I haven`t played a lot with him, but he doesn`t seem to miss many shots, at least when there is not a ton of pressure.

That's why it's so hard to tell from these videos.

Hey, what happened to the Mfed post talking about liking the guy on top because he was playing a draw?  Wasn`t it before the post that starts "also...?"  Did it disappear into cyber space?

i like swing 2, because the angle of the club in the backwing matches the follow through. In the first swing the club is a bit higher in the follow through, looking like the player might be holding onto the release.

MEfree...The reason the other post is not there is because I thought I posted it to the wrong thread so I reported it to get it taken off and when I found I was mistaken, it was too late to cancel my request. I still believe the guy's swing on the top swings more on a plane (in to out) that promotes a draw than the guy on the bottom, but as I said in the post that was deleted, the "best" swing is the one that is the most consistent. The question was "who do you think has a better swing, not who gets the best results (although you'd never know results based on 1 swing).  Everybody swings the club a little differently. Based on one swing, I think the guy's swing on top is more like I try to swing the club, therefore to my eye, it looks better. If you put either swing up against Jim Furyk's swing without knowing it was Furyk, most golfers would not pick Furyk's swing, but (knowing the results of each guys swing) if asked which guy gets the best results from their swing, everyone would pick Furyk. That's because even though his swing doesn't look pretty, he does what he does much more consistently and therefore gets better results. Personally, I think I have a better "looking" swing than Furyk, but would kill to be as consistent with mine as he is with his.

Thanks...and I understand what you are saying, but a thread that says one guy averages 70 and another guy averages 76, who is the better player wouldn`t be very interesting.  In terms of quality of ball striking, my guess is that the guy on the bottom is closer to Furyk than he is to you while the guy on the top is probably similar to you (based on your 'cap as I haven`t seen your swing).  I feel the reason that the guy on the bottom hasn`t enjoyed more professional success has more to do with his short game than his long game as he was outside the top 100 on the NW last year in putting, sand saves and scrambling.  He didn`t get serious about the game until he was around 16 and is still in his mid 20s, so hopefully he will figure that part of it out also.

    • They need to do something to speed  up play. They could randomly  time  players. One  idea would  be  if a group gets  out  of  position they are disqualified. If its a group of  3 and  its  1 player playing like  molasses i can imagine an exciting interaction, lol
    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
