Hi everyone,

my knowledge of golf-rules is rather limited, so this might seem a stupid question to some of you.

I'd like to know if there is any rule that FORBIDS the use of any device (even a very small one) that would help you

to ensure a correct set-up (feet-positioning, distance to the ball, etc.)

Thanks for the input.

As long as it isn't used during the stroke, and it doesn't cause an undue delay in play, then it would be allowed.  It must not be employed while making the stroke.  For example, you could use a club to check your alignment, but it must be removed before starting your stroke.  You may not use any sort of a swing aid or training device during the round.

Can you be a bit more specific.

You can use a club to align your feet but not a rod.

What sort of thing are you thinking of to get your distance from the ball?

You couldn't use a wooden or metal 'T' ( I don't mean a tee) to get your stance set up.

See Rule 14-3 for more information.
