Don't mean to devalue his wins as certainly Charl is playing great golf right now. Any double digit win is impressive. He's dialed in for sure and when healthy is potentially a top 10 player.

I think there is some merit to both sides.  On the one hand the back to back wins means he's playing solid golf, regardless of the field.  Of course the OP seemed to be making a big deal about the margin of victory, which isn't very impressive considering the weak fields.

I'm not sure that's a good point... Both the US and British Opens are opens and really anybody can get into them if they qualify. On the other hand, Tiger's tournament only allows a "select number" in (18?). Does that mean that his tournament means more than either the British or US Open? Obviously the major means more.

You are right that it's not his fault that it's a weaker field, but that doesn't really matter... the fact is that it IS a weaker field and so it doesn't have as much meaning. As I said earlier, it's awesome that he won, he's playing great golf right now, but 2 wins in a row now is not the same as 2 in a row during the regular season.

    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
