Just got fitted earlier this evening. Here are the recommended specs for my driver.

club length: 44.5"
swing weight: D3
cpm: at least 265<< cpm <<275
shaft kick point: mid
ball speed: 145mph
head speed: 103mph
PTI: 1.45
face: deep

for shafts I was recommended:
1. Diamana Blue board 75g
2. UST v2 75g
3. Rombax 7x07

and for heads was recommended:
1. T/M R7 Super Quad 9.5
2. T/M R7 460 9.5
3. Cleveland Hibore
4. Callaway FT-5
this goes against my will to purchase either the Nike Sasquatch or the Titelist 907 D1.

The pro told me to get XS shaft but on the sheet he wrote S. I will have to call tomorrow to check. Would it be a totally bad idea to go with my instinct in terms of driver club head?

Also for my irons I was recommended a 2 degree upright lie. I am thinking I will be more comfortable with shorter clubs with this set up but this was not recommended. Any thoughts?

Thanks for any input. Off to some club/shaft research...

Any opinions?

So for stiffness I will go with S. The biggest difference on paper for the UST V2 and the Blueboard is price (blue board is $225!) I am guessing the UST will be more than suffice and probably a better launch characteristic for me (higher). I am still trying to decide on the club head and am considering the Titleist 907 D1. Would this be a bad choice for me?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Get a stiff shaft, and if you want the Titleist head go for it.

I was recommended to get a driver 0.5" shorter. Does this mean I should do this for my irons as well? There was no information specified about irons so I am wondering

Have been debating between the D1 and the D2. Here is my reason breakdown:

D1: better for me because it's
  • more forgiving (I have a relatively high handicap, but am working hard with lessons)
  • less spin
  • lower launch

D2: better because of its
  • deep face
  • potential workability
  • as my handicap gets better will be more useful

What I seek from a driver is reasonable forgiveness without sacrificing distance (currently hit avg.280), low to mid launch with little spin and a deep face.

I will be getting a low/mid launch shaft (Blueboard 73 stiff or Pro V2 75 stiff). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a V2 in my 5-Wood and it's definitely designed to keep from ballooning.

I have bit both the D1 and the D2 and the D2 is miles better in my opinion.

Usually not. A recommendation to get a shorter driver shaft is usually driven by an intent to increase control and increase the likelihood of an on-center hit, and not so much by phyisical attributes (such as being short or having long arms). Its a better idea to get specifically fitted for your irons, rather than trying to apply specifications from a driver fitting.

Tiger Woods has his driver cut down, so yes, you should def. get your driver cut if that's what they said to do: As far as the irons go, I'm not too sure...ask the guy at golfsmith or something...

Finally decided on my new set of clubs. My neck will fall out waiting for these babies.
