Greatest Game Movie

I saw the movie. Having read the book, the factual inaccuracies really bothered me. I understand the reason they did them, but they still bug me.

Same is true for the scoring and whatnot. The movie was dumbed down a bit. The turning point of the match, when Vardon bunkered himself and Ouimet played safely, was not really done up enough to appreciate it, and several key moments earlier in the rounds and in the playoff were glossed over.

Little was said at the end about Ouimet's impact on American golf, and some of the characters were barely developed, like McDermott and Ted Ray. Even Ouimet's worship of Vardon - his phrases coming to mind, his studying of his books and his swing, etc. - were touched on only briefly.

Still, the movie was one of the better golf movies out there. I may pick it up on DVD, I may not. I don't know yet. It was worth the $13 my wife and I paid to see it, and she said she enjoyed it, too.

The golf swings, FWIW, look passable. No "Follow the Sun" type crap here.
