I have a Taylormade Burner 2.0 that I bought on Ebay from Global Golf. Got it last summer for 109.00 plus 12.99 shipping. Here's my delima, I can hit farther with my TM Burner 2.0 3-15 than I can with this driver. BTW I am a terrible golfer. I shoot 110 on a par 72 consistenly , at least I am consistent. My son has a Nike MS , the square one, I hit it somewhat better. Is it possible I have a dud? I've leaned torward player error on my part , but it seems like I have to try to murder the ball to get any distance. My 3-15 and 3-18 I can hit easier and concentrate on connecting with the ball and get better results.

a 3 wood should be within 30-40 yards of your driver - never heard of anyone hitting one farther.      Suggest you borrow another driver and try it to see if it's you or the club.

Honestly, where you're at, length shouldn't be your concern ... resist the urge to hit super long - play under control and try to keep it in play and those big score numbers will assuredly start coming down.    i wouldn't even bag a driver at this point if you hit your 3w well...

Sounds about right, driver is a challenging club to hit and im sure your not the only one that can hit their 3 wood just as far if no further then there driver. I see it all the time. I was in the same boat for a while, what i came to realize was that i was holding back and making a 3/4 arm swing before w the big dog because i was worried about spraying the ball, but after i got fitted for a shaft that required me to go after it, the distance come and my swing has started to solidify. I still spray it, but its 25 yards further still then the 3 wood.

A 3 wood is easier to hit with a poor swing because your hitting down on the ball with wood's, and its hard to hit down on a ball that is tee'd up 3 inches, like the driver. Most people compensate, use their arms to control the club face, and swing over the top with the driver and only deliver a glancing blow, thus in the proccess, loosing distance due to poor smash factor. Your driver isnt a dud, and your situation isn't hopeless. Maybe you can start by teeing the ball lower to see if that allows you to feel the clubs at the bottom of the swing arc. Just look at Bubba he tees the ball like a mile high and swings up on it, where as Sergio tees the ball just barely and makes a decending blow on the ball.

Good luck!

    • Its not. They are just giving an example in a situation say if cant reach it. Example, You have 230 to the center of the green, you cant hit a club you have that far, so you whip out a 3/5 wood or whatever, but you have to hit it soft because there is trouble in front of the green, a bunker or water. A full swing would land you in the trouble. You want to lay up as close to the green as you can. So you aren't hitting a full shot with that club so for distance tracking you can make that shot a provisional and it wont affect the distance stats.

    • I had a 5 wood.  Now have moved onto hybrids and have a 4 hybrid.  As I get older a more lofted hybrid and/or 7 and 9 woods will come into my bag.  I have learnt that as swing speed declines, loft is your friend
