I know your suppose to make a move towards the target with the hips to begin the downswing. But it seems like I hit the ball better when I don't even think about doing it. So is it alright not to really think about the transition to begin the downswing?

Encouraged. The fewer thoughts in your mind while you swing, the better. Get comfortable with your swing on the driving range, then you'll be able to swing what will seem effortless on the course.

For me, I think about my target, and not the motion to start down.
