I was lucky enough to have my season debut round the other day, and while I played rather well for myself (46 on a par 36) considering I hadn't played in almost 8 months, I was pushing all irons. As a result I had 0% GIR.

Imay be able to get a swing video up later today, but anyone got any initial ideas why? Im thinking maybe my arms are lagging behind my body, i.e. turning too fast. Strongly considering taking a very strong grip to bandaid the problem when I go out again on Tuesday (same course, only winter course I know of in the area). I am not seeing a bad slice, just straight push.

A push means your path and face match up they're just both out to the right.

It's unlikely that your body rotation (turning too fast) is causing your path to be to the right - typically that sends someone's path left.

Take a slightly stronger grip and motorcycle it during the entire downswing (twist grip counterclockwise).

Thanks will try these tips today. I generally concentrate on a flat wrist when i will take a stronger grip and see how it goes. Maybe i can beat my 0% GIR from the other day....

    • Day 50 - 2024-11-19 Hit about 20 balls focusing mostly on the backswing. That's going to be my November and December.
    • They need to do something to speed  up play. They could randomly  time  players. One  idea would  be  if a group gets  out  of  position they are disqualified. If its a group of  3 and  its  1 player playing like  molasses i can imagine an exciting interaction, lol
    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
